This is a very quick demonstration of how I respond to the most-often asked question I come across at demos and workshops: " how do you decide where to add selective colour?'
I drew the scene again, very quickly: (7 minutes) and decided to use it as the basis for a demonstration of one of my techniques for adding minimal watercolour washes to a line drawing.
Again, this is just one of the ways I approach this process-actually, calling it a process seems to formalise it too much: it's much more of an instinctive thing, and varies from drawing to drawing.
The whole process of adding paint actually took less than 7 minutes again, if you discount the preamble and chattering: I'm a firm believer in the benefits of rapid, unfussy working.
I used Daniel Smith and Derwent colour in my Etchr watercolour sketchbook.
