Why is the dear doctor using terms such as "slow/inefficient thinking" in reference to slowly maturing cortex? If we matured as fast as mice, would that be "efficient/fast thinking"? It is the impatience of schools that throw ADHD kids out of the system. Instead of maturing, they get pushed, squished, medicated, etc. No wonder some rebel and quit early. I would

Hello - you have described my daughter whose challenge is focus, organization and learning. . She spoke 2 languages by aged 4 yet School has been declining and appreciate that it is not about behaviour, she really tries, and is devastated when not successful. She is not on meds - however I am feeling that we are trying to put a square peg in round hole. So her advantage is that she experiences differently - yet the school system (and life) is trying to "fit' her to a system that she is doesn't fit into, in the first place, I am thinking now that we need further thinking as a whole, for success. Instead of her trying to fit, why not the system fitting her...

The best solution is unschooling. Let the kid find her own way in life. She may be thriving in no time. The faster the better. Each day at school may do damage
