They should have more ADHD videos on girls. ADHD presents itself a lot differently in girls.

I was more typical hyperactive as a little girl, and all over the place similar to a boy with ADHD, but I was more subdued in school. My parents started managing me early. Now high school was when I was really hyperactive and impulsive. being a teenager just made the symptoms worse. But I agree showing ADHD in girls would be helpful. I also hate it when you ask someone if they even know what ADHD is and they just think it means you talk a lot and can't focus. It's so much more. I wish I could teach my dad to take it more seriously. He has never considered it a serious illness.

I still haven’t seen anything about emotional dysregulation, being extra sensitive, the link between ADHD and anxiety, anything like that. It really gets in the way and I wish we could see some representation. I also haven’t seen any of these videos portraying a girl with ADHD which is only going to feed into the myth that only boys can get it. And the “OOH OOH, GIVE ME ONE!” was wayyyyy over the top, I don’t think it was accurate, maybe for a young child, but for a teenage, I think that was overdramatized and not likely to happen.

i havent been properly diagnosed with ADHD (yet), but i can relate to a lot of the things in this video -i always bounce my knee or squirm my foot when im sitting at a table or a desk. and i'll usually tap my fingers or fidget with something in my hand -i talk WAY too much. like, say i'll be in a conversation with someone and they'll talk about something for about... 2 minutes..? and then i'm talking about something for about 6. i often also interrupt people even though i don't really mean to, it's usually necause something just popped into my head or i wanted to add on to what i said earlier -im really restless, especially when im laying down (im laying down right now and even now im struggling to stay still-). if im trying to go to sleep i'll usually squirm or turn around or something. -i don't blurt out answers (well, most of the time anyway), but sometimes i can just keep going and going and whoevers asking me the question will be all "yeah ok shut the up-" -i have dificulties waiting my turn a lot. i just wanna get in there, do what i gotta do and go. im a bit of an impatient person when waiting or i just get too excited -i have trouble with quiet activities too. if i'm doing work by myself, i'll usually talk to myself or mumble weird shit like for example: i'll talk about why i find things funny like an _egg._ i'll say something like "ok but why did i laugh at a picture of an egg, i mean there's literally nothing funny about it and-" and i just keep going on and on to myself until someone notices. or if im not mumbling, i'll talk to anyone next to me while doing my work unless they don't wanna talk, then i'll just go back to mumbling random things to myself (sometimes i'll crack up laughing at something i said and aaa this is getting long-) -i can't focus. i just can't. if someone is demonstrating something to me, even if it's something i like, my mind will just be in a completely different place. i often make careless mistakes as well. if im writing down information and lets say... i spelled something wrong or accidentally put down the wrong thing, i'll just be all "eh, no big deal" and just continue. long story short, it ends up being a big deal. -i am easily distracted. i'll be distracted by things like my friend talking to me, a random thing hung up on the wall, or a siren going on in the back or something. no matter what it is, i'll most likely get distracted by it. -i dont really lose things as such, i just misplace them. but i do forget things a lot. sometimes i'll forget to put my hat on or bring my pencils or something ("hm, i wanna draw!" *fOrGeTs EnTiRe bOoK* or something) -i avoid tasks with mental effort because of these things: 1. i dont want to do it. 2. i think i'll fail 3. _i dont want to do it._ 4. im pretty lazy honestly- 5. *_i dont want to do it._* and then i end up procrastinating unintentionally when i say i'm going to do it later and just end up forgetting and have to do it 1 day before its due- -i do listen to people, i just dont absorb the information and often forget what they said or something. -organization? -_-yeah thats pretty much non-existant with me.-_- except for when i was downloading doki doki sprites and- heeey im getting off topic! thats another thing i struggle with too (i swear that was unintentional). anyway, when i went to school, my books were just shoved in a clusterfuck of paper and cardboard that i call a box. my books are neatly organized but hey thats because someone else did it for me the inside of my desk is just hORRIFYinG, everything is cluttered absolutely everywhere and i can barely find stuff. when i organise stuff, it's just *yep, this clusterfuck is definately neat and clean and blahblahxfytx8* thats probably why the covers of my books are coming off and i gotta make new ones again, i havent been disgnosed yet, but i think i might be suffering from adhd. or maybe im just a piece of hecc that's just a lazy pee pee head (wow great sense of humor), i dunno.

You’re me without the extensive talking part. I barely talk to anyone I’m not comfortable with. Really small social circle I’ve got as a result but I’m not complaining. I’m concerned because I’ve gotten myself into a field that demands constant focus and attention; not to mention I’ve got a shit ton of things to get done. Over the years I’ve lost seriousness and just taking things casually. I probably need to get myself diagnosed and start medication. Lol why am i blabbering on a random yt comment? Well i gotta appreciate people like you for giving me confidence that i am, in fact, having an issue and that I can get over this like most of the people here.

Sahal E. M. Patel see that’s the thing about ADD and ADHD. Asking further questions or expanding questions is extremely difficult when you have no clue what the person is even talking about. If they tell me some random fact that I don’t get and I ask what it is and they give me an answer I don’t understand at all, I’m gonna say “I don’t get what you mean. Like what is it?” And repeat that question or ask it in a slightly different way. Things need to be explained in a specific way for me personally and I know it’s the same way for many others with ADD and ADHD.

I have ADHD I was diagnosed with it a few years ago but my parents thought that I was all good but it continued. I am now 12 years old and i take medication only for attention. Omar Khatib you only take the medication for attention? Or you take it to help you pay attention? I don’t get what you mean. I’m 15 and I take medication for my ADD, which is a lot like ADHD but without the hyperactivity. We’re just a lot more inattentive and dissociative than those with ADHD. I always have trouble paying attention and am very impulsive. Sports never worked for me since I never had the H in my illness but I can see how that works for you. What kind of medication do you take? I take Adderall.

I think i do. And answering the question, i do that too, i stopped doing that when i realise it's childish.(but i'm still one 16 YO) Yeah... My grades are the lowest, but if i happen to listen carefully (still can't understand) i think i'll jump the score almost on top? I did that sometimes. I am really easily distracted even a small sound(if i can hear it, and if it picked my interest). I think easily distracted cool for lookout, they happen to notice even little things when moved. Yeah... I'm fan of military(even i know i won't stand a chance) Yeah... U can ask anything else, i'm out of words. As a woman with ADHD (inattentive), I noticed that most of these points were shown in a school setting. I know that school for me was literal hell and that while I still have some symptoms outside of school (duh), I also noticed that what used to be considered a "problem" in school is now considered an "Asset" in the workplace. So...there is that too. Showing different environments would be beneficial for this video.

Sahal E. M. Patel It gives me terrible time management, depression and anxiety. I even get panic attacks in my sleep that I don’t remember. My parents will always say that your screaming in your sleep as if someone was going to murder you, and they feel so scared for me. Another sleep disorder I have is Exploding Head Syndrome. It’s when your hallucinating sounds in your brain during the time your half awake and half asleep. I will hear noises that mostly depend on lighting. So brighter/lower lighting levels or colors will make the sounds more extreme or painful than others. I will hear gun shots, intense buzzing, and explosions. I even woke up thinking I heard a bomb outside my house, and I was so confused. I also have such a terrible state of common sense, and have trouble with my social skills, which is the reason why it so hard for me to have long-term friends, or girlfriends (which I never even had) I knew some girls that liked me, and were so open about it. But I never knew how to react or bother to ask them out, because again I’m bad at communicating.
