Pretty damn comfortable for just casual use. I feel the cushion in the new lattice design and have 2 pairs because they are super comfortable. Will definitely get another colorway when they drop. Now for actual running I couldn't say. I use Saucony Freedom 3's for work which has PWR Run + Foam and these 4d Fwd's have just as much cushion and even more so in the forefoot.

I have them in the Tokyo colorway. For me, they are still much too heavy to go running with it. The midsole is very well cushioned and much softer than previous iterations of 4D midsoles (but still very hard; almost every foam is much softer), but neither bouncy nor do I feel any significant propulsion. I do like to use them casually or in physical therapy though because they are very stable. For running I find them totally unsuitable and I don't understand how Adidas markets the shoe as a running shoe; the 4DFWD is a step in the right direction, but they are not there yet. The knit is really comfortable but the shoe is a bit long, I would also buy 1/2 size smaller as you recommended. Great video, really enjoy the way you review shoes 👍

The whole idea of the midsole seems similar to what On does with their Cloudtec. Does it have a similar feel to that? Also, do you think someone with a heel-strike would have more overall benefit from the shoe than your mid-foot strike? In the B-roll, the whole back half never seems to compress due to your strike. Still, I love to see shoe companies throwing things at the wall to see what sticks technology-wise and experimenting with stuff like this.
@kofuzi

I believe Adidas has said that this shoe benefits heel strikers more than forefoot strikers. And even though the feeling is a bit different, I think there are a lot of parallels with On CloudTec. Neither is as cushioned as it looks or should be.

What size do you recommend I get? I’m true to size in Jordan 1’s. in basketball shoes and most running shoes I have to go half a size up to an 8.5 if there snug. My foot is on the wider side and most runners have a narrow foot compared to me. So usually the size recommendations of runners I have to go a half size up to get a similar fit.

I'm currently in the market for a pair of running shoe. I am still wearing the black and orange ones that I bought sometime last July, and about 2 months ago holes began to form on this shoe. Near the laces were the crease would be on each shoe, so four holes there. at the top of each big toe, and on the sides where my pinky toes are. soon my right pinky toe will be able to peep out lol. I don't run much, but I did use them as everyday shoes for casual walking, and jogging. Im disappointed that in less than a year, $300 CAD shoes had begun to show damage and fall apart. They are still the most comfortable running shoe I've owned, so I'm still on the fence about buying another pair.

I’ve thought about this exact thing. I’m brought to think about ones running gait or motion even the flicks of kofuzi running in this video. When I think of the full running motion … landing > the foot being planted before exploding off backward > the 4d being flexible enough to compress forward but then in the motion of the kick backward that compression shift to release aiding the foot kick. Nice overview.. But the abbreviation for kilometers is "km" not "k". k only refers to 1000. 1000 grams 1 kg, 1000 m is 1 km. If you use "K" as an abbreviation (uppercase) it refers to temperature in degrees Kelvin. All units of measure are always lowercase, unless named after a person like Kelvin, Watt etc. What is the durability of the outsole compared to Continental?

It’s great innovation but I feel its strength would be realized in running if the midsole would be based on your specific gait and step pressure data you get when you go for a proper fitting at a specialty running store or foot doctor. Then have that submitted to Adidas to get your custom shoe delivered. Then it would be well worth the premium for those really needing stability. Could also be a game changer if it results in increased running economy. Only time would tell.

I would think it would be poor for weight lifting and I also think it may damage them.

@@kofuzi seem like it's more of a hassle but I guess thats why they just advertise it as a running shoe

These Adidas running shoes aren't running shoes: they are too heavy, the real drop is too high, the forefoot is poorly protected, and the knit top is too soft to hold the foot properly. It makes for a comfortable shoe to work in. But so do Sketchers and they cost a fraction of the price.

The look cool until you step in poop. How would you get that out of the sole - cotton bud?

A commitment to 'end plastic waste' is double-speak nonsense, consumer capitalism cannot produce an eco-friendly shoe for as long as they peddle the lie that you need new shoes every few hundred miles. I really wish we would stop obsessing about shoes as runners. We have such a beautifully simple sport and these a-holes make us think we need all this wasteful cr@p to take part in it. Nothing but love for Kofuzi tho 🙏

Rich Roll and Adam Skolnick discuss the two ends of this spectrum frequently on the Roll On episodes of the Rich Roll podcast. (for example, whether meat-less meat is good for the environment). my current feeling is that we don't need to pick one approach. our solutions can be multifaceted and with different time scales. but perhaps this is a reflection of my own inertia rather than an assessment of what we need and/or what will work irl.

I like the fact Adidas is trying new tech but I dont think this will be embraced by the running community.

I go down a 1/2 size in adidas from my most common running shoe size. If you look at their international size comparison chart you can see why by comparing your usual size to the European equivalent (Euro sizes are far more specific since they are in much smaller increments). I wouldn’t consider that shoe for running but agree the upper looks inviting, except for that overly tall heel element. Ugh; I can’t wait until traditional heels come back with the companies that have excessive heel flares. Unnecessary weight, many are debris collectors and they look icky, though I’ve gotten used to them enough to have bought and liked the Mach4. (The Hyperion Tempo is a very minimal version so didn’t bother me)

The weight in my size US 11,5 is going to be way too much. Probably like 370-400 grams. Anything above 300 grams in my size is too much for my liking. I also don‘t like the overconstructed heel. Reminds me of the Hoka Tennine. 😂

I got a NB 1080v11 and the knit upper is very comfortable and I wonder how does it compares to this 4D 's knit upper ? Just put off curiosity. I would also rather get an Ultraboost instead this 4D as well.

The 1080 is more sock like. The 4D is more like a cable knit but for your feet. I prefer this style, as I think it breathes better while remaining just as forgiving
