I only have one lift in them and it was a heavy squat day and they were PLANTED. My RADs are pretty stable too but I think the heel in the DS3 makes it feel a tad sturdier. I did have some issue with the heel going up so high on a walk I got some rubbing. Wasn't that much of an issue during the lift. I have a 2E foot and they fit great but you are right about the toe box being a little aggressive. Nothing too serious and it felt like it loosened up by the end of the workout. I just bought these and tried them out for a leg day. I usually buy a 1/2 size up for my shoes because my feet are wide, so I go with a size 10. I have 2 other pairs of Adidas that are size 10s. This is the widest shoe I’ve ever bought, I have too much room for my foot to move. It doesn’t look any bigger than my other Adidas 10s, and my toe is where it usually is, but I don’t feel like I can get it tight enough, especially around the ankle. My heel doesn’t really stay put. Performance wise they are great though. I just wish the fit was more natural, but I’m new to training shoes so maybe that’s just how they are.
@thatfitfriend

Interesting! Then def don't go with the 2s because they feel wider than these, LOL. It may just be that this shoe's last doesn't align with your foot anatomy. It's not incredibly uncommon to experience that and to try multiple models when starting out to see what fits best. If you decide to return these, I'd suggest looking into models like the TYR CXT-2 Trainer or Adidas Everyset if you want to stick with Adidas

@@thatfitfriend thanks man. i tried them out for day 2, and it's really just the size of the toe box that is the issue. i have too much room. most of the reviews i've read said it's too tight on the toes and you'll need to size up. i'm afraid if i go back down then the width of the middle foot will be too small. it's all good, i'm keeping them because i like the way they look (love the pink and black) and they're good enough lol. thanks for the suggestion, i'll take a look at the Everyset next time!

Hi Jake, love your videos! Not too many fitness KZitemrs do informative and indepth shoe reviews like yours in my country 😧 Just wanted to ask for some tips as I'm really divided between getting Adidas Dropset 3 vs UA Tribase 5. I'm a regular gym goer and mostly do weightlifting such as squat, deadlift, benchpress without plyometrics and definitely no crossfit. So I'm looking for a shoe with a lifting bias that I can just comfortably squat and deadlift in at the same time. I've been using Metcon 3 with 4mm offset while Dropset 3 and Tribase Reign 5 each have 6mm and 2mm. I like the way how my 4mm shoe feels when lifting and was wondering if the 6mm or 2mm offset will make a huge difference (and which will be better for my lifting needs like squats and deadlifts). I know 2mm probably won't make too much of a difference but I did hear heel elevation can be a help for squats but hurt when it comes to deadlifts and vice versa for lower offset. Is there one that you'd recommend between the two?
@thatfitfriend
26 күн бұрын
Eh, probably not that big of a deal if you don't have any specific issues with mobility/mechanics! I'd go Dropset 3, then for deads, if you find the heel to be too much you can ditch them and pull barefoot!

Hi Jake, I'm a new subscriber in need of help. I'm about to join a gym again after 15 years and I'm having trouble deciding which shoes to buy. I hope you can help me and your reviews already helped me a lot narrowing it down. I'm planning on doing mainly bodybuilding (incorporating the 3 powerlifts) and just some light cardio as warm-up before the weights. In my case, which shoes would you pick between Dropset 3 and The Total? Toe-box width-wise, they're similar, right? I have wide feet. There isn't much difference in heel elevation, right? I can only afford one pair of gym shoes right now and I really want to make the right choice. Thank you in advance.
@thatfitfriend

Hey, welcome! I'd go Dropset 3 and prob size up a half-size if you have wide feet. Their heel difference is noticeable. The Dropset 3 has a 6mm drop and the Total is flat. Both can work, though, so if your gut is saying Total, then don't second guess it proceed because you'll be fine. The Dropset 3 will give you more range if you want to add in cross-training/HIIT to your sessions, too

Cool review but I would like to see a comparison section where you compare the tested shoe with other models. Many of us do not have the opportunity to try all the models and it would allow us to better "understand" the shoe since. I love the UA Tribase Reign 2 and still wear them now but it's time to retire them🤣I don't like what UA did with the new iterations, so I just ordered the Dropset 3 and Nano X4. I would like to test the Haze, RAD One and CX-T2 but it is not easy to find them in Europe (Belgium). I can order them but it's not easy to know which size to choose and given the costs, returns are almost impossible. The Dropset 3 feel good on feet but I don't think I could use them for all my WODs. Which shoe would you choose to go with?
