Hey Barbend I already got one Power Perfect 3, but want another weightlifting shoe ( One when i work at my main gym, one to squat only at another gym when i'm not home, 1-2 days a week ) Should i get the barely used Legacy Lifters or brand new Power Perfect 3 ?

Hi. I’ll appreciate your help! I’m looking for my very first haltero shoes, and this is so confusing! I have prety long legs (specially my femur) and I don’t know if it better a higher heel or not... what do you think? Witch is a better option? Powerlift, power perfect or legacy lifter?
@Barbend
5 жыл бұрын
Reality is, most weightlifting shoes will be very similar in respects to overall performance. If you're newer to training and weightlifting shoes, I wouldn't worry so much about the little details like your femur length, heel height, and so forth. In my opinion, I'd recommend going for a more budget friendly shoe that has a heel height or around .75". Once you've acclimated to them and grow in the sport more (or start competing), then those little details will matter a bit more, but still not too much! Don't sweat the smaller details and a find a shoe that has good durability and a price point that works for you. - Jake

I think I’m going for powerlift one! Sure they are good pair for the first pair ever. I lift quite heavy... 85kg back squad, 95kg deadlift...it’s ok for a girl. it’s to get better in my performance. Do powerlift and powerperfect have the same heel hight? Thaks Jake!
@Barbend

@@edurnegrijalba6464 Powerlift is slightly lower at .65" and Power Perfect comes out to about .75". I think the Powerlift is the right call. Also, I would recommend not wearing them for deadlift, as a higher heel will only increase range of motion during your pull! - Jake

How do you compare these to the Powerlift 4s? I’m looking into buying my first pair of weightlifting shoes, mostly for squats (I think I prefer high bar) and I’m tied between these and the powerlift 4s. I usually squat in Nike metcon 3s and sometimes chucks, they’re both really flat so I’m not sure which to go after and which is the better long term investment

Hey man - That's so funny, we JUST wrapped up filming a comparison video between these two models. Tbh, the differences between the two are so minimal that it really doesn't matter to a high degree for a majority of recreational lifters/squatters/casual weightlifter. I'll list the three differences that are most important (IMO) between the two below, Heel height: .6" vs. .75" Price: $80 vs. $100 Strap: Tad lower on the Powerlift 4 These differences are not big enough to impact overall performance, so I'd say go with either or. They're both solid options in re: performance, durability, and price, so choose whichever you like best! - Jake

BarBend thanks for the reply! It’s really helpful honestly! How would you compare the two of these adidas to the nike romaleos 3? I’ve seen a sweet deal for the oldest model for around the $100 dollars and would love to hear your opinion on it! Lots of people been saying they’re having lots problems with durability and cheap material, but I might overlook that if everything else is perfect! Keep up the good work I’m lovin’ what Bar Bend is doing!

@@xst0rms702 You're welcome & thank you for watching/commenting! The Nike Rom 3s fit a bit more snug and feel similar to an athletic-style shoe compared to a lifter & have around a .75" heel. And yeah, the Rom 3's durability are not that great around the tongue, but it can be prevented if you're careful when putting them on and taking them off. Outside of a few individual outsole lipping issues/tongue rips, the shoes are not that bad with durability if you understand how to be a bit more attentive to them when purchasing. Unfortunately, athletes and Nike didn't realize that when they came out, which is why durability was such a gripe and is not going away anytime soon. If you can find a pair for $100 or less, then that's not a bad find, IMO. I typically lean towards Nike shoes solely because they fit my narrower foot a bit more snug, but again, the Powerlift 4s and Power Perfect 3s are equally as great in re: performance. - Jake

BarBend I think I’m going to go with the power perfect 3s, I have flatter and really muscular feet so that extra width will definitely help me! Plus that leather they got on there really cleans the shoe up and I can already tell it’ll last me a very long time out of the three shoes. Thanks for the feedback , y’all seriously helped me out a lot !!

I'm after a shoe for a low bar squat (no Oly's). The price of these in the UK is about the same as the Powerlift 3.1 & 4. I've watched your 3.1 vs 4 video (thanks) - are these PP3 about equal with those, or any better? Thanks.
@Barbend
5 жыл бұрын
Hey Mike! First, thank you for watching. Second, great question - the shoes themselves are really only different when it comes to their effective heel heights. The Powerlifts have a .6ish" heel, while the PP3 have .75". That being said, there's not a huge different between the two, but I'd aim for the lower heel if you're performing low-bar squats more often. I squat low-bar, too, and I'm not a huge fan of higher heels because they make my hip angle way too sharp in the hole (folding chair feeling with my hips/back). Although, if you have great torso mobility/shorter legs, then you shouldn't sweat that aspect and either pair would probably work for you fine! - Jake

@@BarbendThank you very much for the speedy reply. Despite my age, my flexibility is good. Legs are average length (or just above) for my height, with average tibias and femurs I think. I was concerned that 0.75 might be a bit more than I need, so I'll go with your advice and get the the Powerlifts, thanks.

@@Barbend Well I got the Powerlift 3.1 (I like the style more than the newer 4). I've only used them for 1 squat session, and it'll take time to adjust, but I'm definitely glad I went for 0.6" rather than 0.75" heels (I fell forward on one rep). It's possible I don't need heels at all, but the stable base (vs Converse) is a nice benefit. As a side note I'd recommend most people get half a size up, unless they have narrow feet or like their gym shoes pretty tight. Thanks again for the help, much appreciated.

@fuzzylogiceire

@@AJsaurus15 Probably because the best Olympic lifters will usually use the most expensive gear since they are professionals. Power Perfect 3's are more of an affordable shoe. Adipowers are the most 'high end' weightlifting shoe that Adidas make so most pro lifters will use that if wearing Adidas. Nike Romeleos are also popular but expensive. I have the Power Perfect 3's and they are a good shoe. I don't do the Olympic lifts, I just use them for high bar squats, which Olympic lifters do all the time as a main accessory lift. But I could use them for Snatch, Clean and Jerk if I wanted to. They are designed for weightlifting.

A bit late but, for a powerlifter is the 0.75" too high for low bar squat? Should I go for the powerlifts 4 instead?
@Barbend

It really depends on your squat style and preferences. There isn't a real one-size-fits-all kind of answer. Generally, flatter outsoles make low-bar a bit more comfortable if you have trouble with torso angles, but some athletes perform just fine with a heeled shoe. What do you wear now to squat in? - Jake

I'd tread lightly there. I loaned mine out (size 10) to a buddy who wears 11 and they fit him fine. TBH, Adidas doesn't do the best job at labeling info for their lifters (see the messed up heel heights between the Powerlift 3 & 4), so I'd stay objective on that! - Jake
