This is a really nice commentary. I love the insightful anaylses and poetic devices I had long forgotten. I came across "Adlestrop" purely by chance - I was studying A Level English Literature in a local tertiary college in north Wales, Our regular teacher was away and a reliever came in and did a one off lesson based on the poem Adlestrop. Somehow, I have never forgotten it. I live in NZ now and someone sent me a selection of poetry readings. One of these is of course, Adlestrop. Set to the music of The Lark Ascending. This is all about a moment in time that will never be repeated. More so now that the old station has long since gone.

Thank you very much. I love this poem and I happen to live not too far away from the village of Adlestrop. The poem really captures both the essence of the English countryside and the beauty of fleeting moments!

@@ClairesNotes Thank you. The poem always reminds me of Louis MacNiece's poem, "The Sunlight On the Garden," which refers to a moment in time we will never experience again. Thank you for posting!
