Unofficial guidelines for members of the Church of Jesus Christ when authorized to administer the sacrament at home.
When authorized by stake or ward leaders:
-Wear a white shirt and tie.
-Immediately before preparing the sacrament, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water or use hand sanitizer. Do this in front of the family so they feel comfortable with the sanitation.
-There is no need for a prayer to begin or end this ordinance.
-An optional hymn can be sung or played from the Library app while preparing the bread. (Sacrament hymns are numbers 169-196.)
-One worthy Priest or Melchizedek priesthood holder can bless both the bread and water on his own. This can be done kneeling, sitting, or standing. A second priesthood holder of any office can help pass the sacrament.
-Bread should be torn into bite-sized pieces. The amount of water should roughly match the size of bread. Individual cups are recommended. The size of bread and amount of water should be similar to what you receive in church. (If you prefer to use sacrament cups, you can arrange to pick some up from the Elders Quorum President.)
-Bless the bread first by reading Doctrine and Covenants 20:77. Take your time and try to read the passage word for word.
-Administer the bread to all participants. If ministering brothers are performing the ordinance and they have or will receive the sacrament at home, they do not need to partake of the sacrament at this time.
-After administering the bread, bless the water by reading Doctrine and Covenants 20:79. Replace the word "wine" with the word "water."
-Administer the water to all participants.
