Grew up in Surulere off Adeniran Ogunsanya....A quiet cul de sac called- Adeniyi Jakande Close. That stadium bridge was built right in our presence and was a playground until it completed. There was no barrier to climb and run on it before it was fully completed. Same age in 1975. Great time to grow up in Lagos, Nigeria.

I was twelve years old when this music was produced. I can hear some bitterness in between then in 9JA music. If you listen to American music in those days...they co-produced. For example I was surprised to see Kevin Spencer (Dynasty) playing keyboards for Shalamar..SOLAR records. Abanije..stop it. Covid-19 has stopped it anyway

Our traditional rulers, being custodians of our culture have failed! They have allowed English language to very gradually be replacing our local languages. Songs like this can only be sung when a person has a mastery of Yoruba and it can only be truly appreciated and enjoyed by listening ears that have a genuine and proper grip of Yoruba language. That's something that is currently going into extinction in Yoruba land. Most can hardly speak fluent Yoruba without mixing English!

Omo Ode was never a bad person. Never. The fight was marketing strategy then. You would want to listen to either Dele, Pick Peter, Sunny Ade or Obey to judge who among them could abuse each other most. Today, Obey is best friend to Sunny. Dele is equally so to Emperor Pick Peter. Infact, Dele Abiodun and Pick Peter performed together this year 2017 at a function bringing forth beautiful song tracks from their oldies. You need to see how close these old guys are.
