The pickle one is bc I guess a rotten pickle doesn’t bounce. It was put into effect bc some people were selling in edible pickles. They did tests to find out a way to figure out the inedible from edible ones, they found out the inedible ones do not bounce. I think the law came out in either the 40’s or 50’s.

This is a great episode, they should definitely make this a long running series on this channel. For those crazy ass stupid laws that are really, they should also be researched thoroughly and include the origins of these ridiculous and outdated laws, as I'm definitely certain most of us are wondering when we hear these laws in the first place. I mean clearly the first thing that pops into our heads when we hear most, if not all of these, is WTF!? How,...? Why,...!? HUH!? That's one thing that I really like about a lot of the REACT channel series and episodes, is how educational they actually are, or otherwise can be, while still being highly entertaining.

@Markus0021

Many years ago, there were technical definitions for various levels of mental disability. The term 'idiot' was applied to an adult with a 'mental age' of 2 years old or less (severe handicap). So, it sort of makes sense that someone so severely handicapped wouldn't really understand what they were doing, and could be easily influenced, etc. The problem is, how do you measure 'mental age'? If you give an IQ test written in English to someone that can read mainly Spanish or German or Japanese, they may do very poorly... despite not being mentally handicapped.
