It's good to have you back, Christine :) I love the idea of talking about gifts for the holiday season and minimalism. Also, about decorations and how to create a festive atmosphere in the house without losing one's minimalist perspective.

I feel as if I'm the worst person to ask when it comes to holiday decor because we never had a heavy emphasis on holiday decor since I grew up haha! Here's my latest video on our minimalist holiday season though: kzitem.info/news/bejne/y6V9mYyHemd3bG0

@@simplybychristine I know what you mean. I used to not put up any décor for the holidays, but then my daughter was begging for a Christmas tree and so the whole process of buying décor for the holidays begun. The only solution I have found, is that we use the stuff we already have and maybe -just maybe- add 1 new ornament every year. :)

Tell your husband he’s lucky to have a minimalist wife who cleans and organizes; Much better than being married to a shopaholic wife who constantly gets packages delivered and having to park cars outside of garage.

I love minimalism and my husband of forty two years has been slow to adopt the change, especially in his garage but during lockdown here in Australia he decluttered it with the realisation that things he did twenty years ago he probably wouldn’t do now so it was easier to let go of stuff, yes he’s still got a long a long way to go but he sees the benefit and loves how spacious our home feels. A big stumbling block for him were his treasures bits and bobs from earlier career, I suggested instead of getting rid of them we reuse a large plastic tub and if it could all fit in then it was up to him what he kept, he was delighted with the idea and knows if it can’t fit in he has to make some hard decisions and it’s all in one place, win win I say

I am in Australia too and our constant lockdowns made my husband embrace selling off his lesser loved Lego and just recently he suggested that we edit the house down to what we would keep if we move. I felt so encouraged to hear this!

@@inspiringsimple sounds like a great plan, we too have that in the back of our minds, one day we will probably downsize, it’s wonderful when partners start to see the real benefits of living simply. We are off to regional Nsw to see family, it’s been a long wait

My spouse has noticed since I have been practicing minimalism that our home is so much easier to clean. His friend came over the other day and said that our house was looking good and that shocked my husband that his friend noticed. O f course my husband liked that and I feel he is on his way to embracing minimalism more.

Yes I need this!!! I live with non minimalists and my step dad doesn’t think that I can’t wear a uniform outfit each day, that I need variety or lots of clothes for different occasions! Not true! Haha also the minimalist lifestyle helps me keep up on my room being neat snd orderly! And helps me with my mental health!

I'm glad to see another video on your channel! I'm somewhere in between a minimalist and someone who enjoys to have what might appear to be more things than necessary, depending on my mood but I would lie to transition to having fewer things, especially clothes lol.

Hi! Question for next time: What are some helpful questions (or reminders) to ask yourself while you are decluttering?
@StevenColborne

Hey Christine! I'm wondering whether you've considered attending counselling together with Peter? In my experience, bringing a third party into a difficult relationship can massively help you gain insight into to the way one another are feeling and lead to a much deeper connection. I sense that Peter may not feel respected, which could be inhibiting his willingness to embrace minimalism. And perhaps you might feel frustrated that you are trying so hard to do the right thing in life but really what you're needing is a deeper connection with Peter. I could be wrong about all this, of course. Anyway, I really enjoy your videos, you're very talented! Peace and good wishes to you both.

Hello! Yes we have pursued counseling when my anxiety was at it's peak - so not necessarily for minimalism, but totally agree that a third person perspective helps (:

I love your approach. The only thing I find disappointing is that even in this video about living with a non-minimalist - you take the point of view that you are always right and everyone else is wrong. My question is "Has a non-minimalist (your husband maybe) taught you anything about not taking it to such an extreme or do you just dismiss everyone else's opinion and demand that they eventually come around to your opinion?

How do you suggest having a minimalist wardrobe if you live in a state with seasons (like super cold in the winter and very warm in the summer) it’s harder for me to minimize my winter wardrobe
@ayeshiawyatt8654
2 жыл бұрын
It’s not that hard unless you want it to be 😊 I’m from Buffalo NY. You can literally winterize any outfit! Down to rompers lol. ie. jeans white tank top in summer--winterize it with a cardigan, blazer, or oversized sweater and simple pair of boots. Boom done. Skirt? a pair of cable knit tights and tall boots. If you have solid outdoor essentials/footwear for transitioning through the seasons to keep warm, you shouldn’t have to do much of anything in terms of clothing. Especially if you drive. Also Pinterest “all season outfit” ideas or of the like to get more ideas as well. Winter clothing was the easiest thing for me to minimize since I’m a hermit once it starts to get cold and I wear scrubs at work😵💫.

Hi Christine, Nicole here. I love this topic, I live in a multigenerational home and have trouble with trying to simplify with others in the home. Any tips for living simply when you have to keep many different items in one space? Our main bedroom closet holds clothes, linens, craft supplies, and physical therapy gear.

I like to keep everything contained and organized by using boxes and clear labeling! We uses boxes to sort our electronic accessories, stationery, cards, etc. in one of our closets and have found that the best way to keep things somewhat tidy. (:
