You've gotta learn how to take criticism, you gotta learn how to give criticism constructively. Uni is one giant learning curve. Today, I wanted to share some advice I would give to myself for starting uni. Six years ago I moved out and began living with flatmates, making new friends, in a space where nobody knew me. I thought everyone at uni had their life sorted, but honestly, feeling like you don't know what you're doing and, sometimes, not even KNOWING what you want is all to common.
Here are some of the best pieces of advice I could give to my younger self for making the most of uni. Make your friends wisely, remember to call your family, and it's okay to have different priorities than your friends.
Take care of your health, and trust your gut. Never be the most drunk person in the room. Say something if you're uncomfortable.
NEVER loan money to friends. It's not worth ruining a friendship over (have you seen Judge Judy?!). Only loan clothes and books if you're okay to never get them back. You probably won't.
Take time out of studying to go have fun. Go to that BBQ in the park. Stop forcing yourself to do yoga. You hate it. And that's okay. Times change. Uni goes by very quickly. Have a fun ride.
