It is not about what you do, it is about what you are...... ~_~, what you are is where you can't find yourself.. Stay there.... Fears come up that you have been running away from.... Yes to it.... today I am willing, let's get it over with, kill me, stab on my heart, do whatever you want to do.., I'm done running, I am tired, enough.... that it all takes....

My sons mom and I are like that...deep respect and love but not compatible, we struggled off and on for 12 years...trying....now 33 years on I can see she is content in her life and I in mine...but neither would want each other's life.....so so grateful....

The fear, for me, is also that awakening will never come, or if it does, it will not be enough to dissolve my deepest fears.

Living Awareness of the Truth dissolves all fears. All fears. The one who is afraid dissolves.

It still hasn't worked, four years later. Despite all my own work. Adya's teachings are just not enough for many of us.

@@squamish4244 "awakening will never come", "not enough to dissolve fears", "it doesn't work", "not enough for many of us" ------ Thoughts are thoughts, when the egoic mind believes it (confirmed by ego's emotions), then egoic mind translates it as true. Understandable, the thought "awakening will never come" is much more believable than "i am batman". Both are just thoughts but egoic minds chose what to believe is true.

@@windmonk3233 Whatever or however you may phrase it, the spiritual path must produce results of deep peace and fearlessness, or it is not working. Bottom line. And so far, it is not working. I am so sick of spiritual jargon. What actually works?

The is no 'It'. And nothing 'works'. But that's the point. That's nothing you can do to get there except doing nothing and being nothing. You don't choose those things, you just let them happen. In my experience 'Grace' only happens when you have seen through more and more of your personal and universal human conditioning. The problem is we don't really want to see it. Or even know that we don't want to see it. You have to be deep enough and honest enough with yourself to begin to allow yourself to see what you don't want to see. For me sitting Zazen/shikantaza for years, listening to teachers like Adya and Charlotte Joko Beck and seeing a good therapist were necessary in order to 'progress' on this path. And complete disillusionment with everything including spirituality is part of the journey.

It makes them sound more spiritual. His real name is Steven Grey, which is about the blandest name you can think of.

why are American women so dramatically tearful about everything?
@Allesnik

they are possibly more emotionally attached to their identity, also the culture lets women be open with their emotions and men usually bottle emotions up without public display.

I think also that the American spiritual culture, especially that of California and for those who have been 'at it' for a long time, fosters emotional openness and vulnerability in both women and men. It risks self-indulgence, but it also provides a channel to opening. She sounds genuinely frustrated (and refreshingly feeling-centered and not intellect-centered).

Adya attracts students with a similar energy to him. He's melodramatic and whispery. Many of his exchanges are melodramatic and the men and women are crying and everything's over-the-top. It's not wrong, it's just not my thing.
