3 islands in 1 day? No chance! You need time to visit a place and feel the vibe. In Salina you miss spots like Punta Scario in Malfa, Lingua or Rinella. The Fossa delle Felci mountain is the highest of the Aeolian Islands with several paths to hike. The sunset from Pollara, the Malvasia sweet wine...

If you ever get a chance to go to Salina, stay in the little town of Malfa. You can catch a bus from the port and there are buses that will take you across the island. We stayed near the coast at an Airbnb which had a great view of Stomboli. Hiked both of the volcanos. Good food in town at the ristorantes. Would love to go back!! EDIT: Come and stay for a week on Lipari or Salina, it's well worth the time.

@@miavirginia7767 - Sounds awesome. Oh sorry, I thought you were going to be in Sicily with the car. How are you planning to get from the Amalfi Coast to Sicily is the question? You can go by train from Naples or Salerno (If you are in Sorrento it's easier to go back to Naples, if on the Amalfi Coast is probably easier to go from Salerno). What are your destinations in Sicily? If you stay on the coasts you can do Sicily by train and bus. To see the interior requires a car. I can recommend Siracusa, Catania, Taormina, Messina, Cefalu, Palermo, and of course the Aeolian islands. But obviously there is a lot more to see in Sicily....

Hi Lynn! So we only spent 1 night on the islands and we stayed at a hotel called Rojas Bahja in Vulcano. It was right across from the sulphur baths, so the smell on that island isn't too great haha Next time we go, we would probably choose to stay on either Lipari or Salina. Hope that helps! 🤗
@johnnyoz5424
3 жыл бұрын
Ha ! When you said that you'll get a Vespa at one of the other islands, we thought, "good luck with that !!" For those that are following your lead... we stayed 9 days and saw every island. And still we want to go back. Lipari is the main hub, it's the best services. Definitely hire a Vespa or a Fred Flintstone car. Salina (our favourite) and Panarea are the classiest. Vulcano the smelliest, but to safely ( yet strenuously) climb a volcano is pretty cool. Alicudi, Filicudi and Stromboli are the more... er "rustic" islands. The view from the school on Alicudi is one of the best in the world. The locals treat Stromboli different. "Idu" is ever present and rumbles under your feet if you sit still long enough. It needs to be a slow, quiet, watchful visit. ( or a boat tour at dusk to see the lava erupt, if you can't sit still )

@@miavirginia7767 we have just returned home from a few days on Salina. We had a scooter from our accommodation ( B&B Sunrise. Fantastic!) But there was just two of us.
