Like the fact that it stands up, might make a nice EDC caddy to grab phone/wallet/etc when heading out if you don't need the sling and then dump it back in when you get home (especially for travel where you don't have a better place to put it)

I wish companies would stop putting the buckle in the middle of the strap. With it in the middle you either have the buckle on your back or your bag zipper are exposed on your back. If they put it towards the bottom this isn't an issue. Belroy has the best sling by far just on strap alone.

Interesting updates from Aer! Nice, sleek and high quality as always, but when I look at both the Pro sling and bags it feels like they would belong to a previous generation of bags, rather than the latest iteration. Quality looks great but to me they have moved away from a few of the things that made Aer to the strong brand it is today. The new logo, the new pouches without stretch and the fix-points on the Sling being a few examples. I have not had the chance to try the Pro series out in person. Do you agree with any of my reflections or do you feel that the new Pro series is an real upgrade including aesthetics and branding?

Nice sling/pouch combo. But the strap, while removable, seems too slim to spread the weight of some heavier gear like, say an iPad mini or a small water bottle on longer excursions

Venture sling 6l for sure. Only downside is there is no dedicated pocket/slot for gadget such as your ipad or kindle. But other than that, venture sling is superior.

@@PackHacker2 all reviewers (including you) have been very shy in saying the Cordura is thinner than on previous AER bags. When reviewing the backpack I noticed your comment about the pockets in the top compartment (not mesh) and, finally, just compare the zippers with Alpaka. Would you disagree? PS: I love your work. Thanks a lot.

@@ricardoOT3 you're saying 840D is thin for a sling? That's the heavier denier that Evergoods uses on their packs, for some perspective. Mystery Ranch doesn't usually use anything heavier than 500D, etc. Alpaka uses VX with up to a 500D face fabric AFAIK (and often 210D), which would be too stiff for this design given it's laminated I'm guessing (and isn't recycled).

Can u recommend me some good brand for slings? Is alpaka good enough compared to bellroy & Aer?

I really love AER products and have many of them but this latest release is disappointing for several reasons. First, I expect a lot from this company because they're usually fantastic but I feel they missed some opportunities with this one. I don't like the new branding, the lack of waterproof zips, the internal layout and lack of details that elevate a product from previous iterations. I don't like the key placement or length either. To be fair, this isn't crap, it's very nice, but it's short of what I would expect from them. They're pushing the material sustainability aspect, and that is great and will welcome new customers, but the product features could have been prioritized as well. Maybe a Airtag mesh, like the packs, maybe slash resistant, maybe some hidden compartment or RFID compartment, better strap integration/concealment when stored. I prefer the orange interior fabric and more mesh pouches. Maybe a more modular or customizable interior would have been exciting. Just my opinions but I like that they're considering more responsible production materials. Ideally, we would want to create something durable and customizable enough that people wouldn't want to buy every single iteration but that's not always the business model when you want to keep a low price point as well. Thanks for these great reviews Eric!

@@PackHacker2 All of the well pointed bad pointers. Some odd choices that made this sling seem mediocre. We are gear enthusiasts, some corners you just can't cut. The main compartment's layout hides most of the gear, the strap and the zippers are meh.
