Interesting they get to burn tax payers money like it was their own.... If you wanted to make a political statement why not use your own property as fuel... Your Body!!! There is already not enough resources for single parents, covid related job losses, pensioners etc... Why do this??? How are they helping the greater good but taking more resources away from those who really need it??? They get fed 3 times a day which in itself is a privilege that many in Aotearoa do not HAVE!!!

Your economics are based on myth. There is no "taxpayer money" as taxes are not required to pay for national government spending.

Top jail was absolute hole. Shower in the yard. Well past it's used by date. This talk of "they deserve it" these people may be your neighbor one day. Grind people down and this what happens. New Zealand created this generational anger with the horrendous boys homes

One can imagine if a decision was made to sell the place and how a cunning sharp faced realo would market it. Expressions of interest - "Home" away from home in the semi rural Waikato area. This open plan (well, it is now) facility boasts of sun drenched (well, they are now) "apartments" finished in a natural charcoal. A local river supplies the water, noted for its natural "hue" and the extensive grounds, all securely fenced, come with a car park that goes on forever. Imagine the surprise of family and friends when they visit!

Even if they went to ombudsman the prisomers don't process all there documents on there own has to go thru checks and what not but its upto corrections if they wana process the complaints

They were playing to renovate the prison anyways, the inmates were just getting a jump start on renovations. Free of charge
