It would be great if you sold 32 Spoke wheels, even 36 Spoke wheels for heavy riders It's good that I can get a 32 Spoke rim at least, and build the wheel myself

Is the rim available on its own? If so what is the model?

Hi there, for Aero for All, we do offer different levels of wheels, including AR 1600 SPLINE and A 1800 SPLINE, as well as a new rim A 510. Please refer to our website for more information: www.dtswiss.com/en/innovations/aero-for-all Thank you.

It is my belief that having a rim brake version would be advantageous for individuals who prefer such brakes. While I understand the appeal of disc brakes, it feels as though those of us who are fans of rim brakes have been somewhat overlooked. Furthermore, I have observed that the website only provides options for 24, 28, and 32 hole rims, with no availability of 20 hole rims. Although I comprehend the increased torque involved with disc brakes, I fail to see how having a 20 hole option would negatively impact this aspect. Regardless, I hope that DT and other manufacturers will continue producing rim brake rims, as there remains a significant number of people, including myself, who still utilize them.

For myself I was in the market for some new rims and I wanted some high end aluminium rim brakes ones and the best model I’d say is the RR511?

Hi Michael. RR 511 is a good option and also available with 20 holes for rim brake. A lighter rim can be found in RR411: www.dtswiss.com/en/components/rims-road/performance/rr-411, which has been welded. So, we keep providing material for rim brake lovers. Also, we renewed P 1800 SPLINE for rim brake in September and included the new 370 hub with Ratchet LN freehub system. We still offer a larger program for rim brake incl. some nice Carbon wheels with rim heights from 35 mm to 80 mm with 240 EXP and 180 EXP hubs - technically state of the art. Re. disc brake, we tested that a min. of 24 spokes is required to build a fine wheel that also can take the braking torque that occurs in the center of the wheel instead of the rim (as for rim brake bikes). DT Swiss hubs are adapted to this spoke count - rim brake hubs are available from 20 spokes onwards: www.dtswiss.com/en/components/hubs-and-rws/hubs-road/350. Best, Ralf - DT Swiss

Only disc brake version?

I would like to know the same: Does DT Swiss only support disc brakes in the future? It would be a pity.

For these two new wheelsets, yes. Currently, only their Aero and Performance wheelsets have rim brake counterparts.

Not that much of an issue for TT bikes.

Aero beats weight: Truely, an aluminum wheelset is more heavier than a high-quality Carbon wheelset. Acceleration is not as fast, but aerodynamic outrules weight easily, as long you are averaging above 15 kph. Above this speed, the aerodynamic drag is the strongest force you have to overcome. Approx. 8 %-pt. of a bike setup can be influenced by the aerodynamic of a wheel. Find out more about the DT Swiss AERO+ concept: www.dtswiss.com/en/wheels/wheels-technology/aero-plus-technology. And finally: it's up to your legs how fast you can ride 😀. Best, Ralf - DT Swiss

@@dtswiss Not quite. That can be true if your rides are mostly in the flat, if you are climbing a lot, aero sux donkey dick (600 grams more is a lot of weight when climbing for hours) plus 30mm Wheels are never as aero as deep section carbon. The biggest aerodynnamic drag is the upper body, no wheelset can compensate for a big body.

@@moritzhoppe637 no one will ride 30mm deep wheels on a TT bike, they are just not aero ;-)

AHH yes, 30mm deep "aero" rim. I wonder why you don't include wind tunnel tests for Chinese real aero wheels (like > 45mm deep)in similar price, in your test results? I get it that some people prefer aluminium wheels and those people need aero wheels too but please don't advertise you set with "AERO WHEELS NOW AVAILABLE TO ALL " phrase, promising that they maybe will get same aero advantage as 50mm deep rims.

Hi Piotr, thanks for watching our video and taking your time to comment. A 30 mm rim height is our interpretation of the ultimate height for an aluminum wheel/rim that provides an optimal weight-to-aero ratio and a low steering moment. If you increase the rim height in an aluminum profile, the weight would go up. The shape of a 30 mm rim can make a difference in aerodynamics and we have compared this with similar rim heights of other brands and also compared to aero drag value of the various DT Swiss aluminum rims only. On our innvoation page www.dtswiss.com/en/innovations/aero-for-all, you can follow all arguments regarding rim height and the aero drag values. Especially in the aero analysis, you will see differences already in the frontal airflow. We clearly talk about aluminum rims in the video and follow our fact-based approaches. Surely, a higher Swiss Side aero optimized ARC 1400 DICUT 50 Carbon wheel (as an example) will perform better in the wind tunnel - but this is a different comparison. Ride safely, Ralf - DT Swiss

Still not affordable lol. For the same price you can get Chinese branded carbon wheels. The only good thing is that for an alu wheelset its decently light. Only comes in disc version so half of the cyclists cannot buy it either.

All these wheels are handbuilt with the same high-quality approach in the wheelbuilding process - just like more expensive DT Swiss Carbon wheels. The components are well chosen, pefectly aligned and the spokes are produced/flatforged in our head quarter in Biel (Switzerland). You will get a lot of DT Swiss Engineering Performance with reliabilty for every day riding fun.

For our rim brake riding fans, DT Swiss offers a wide range of aluminum and Carbon products. Newer modern wheels with more internal rim width (thus also external rim width) for the use of wider tires will not fit into classic rim brake calipers any more. Disc brake technologiy also enables us to create profiles with additional functionality, such as aerodynamic advantages. Rim Brake surfaces and form of such rims limitate creativity and functionality as described. Best, Ralf - DT Swiss

It’s only unaffordable if you are a poor. And I wouldn’t trust a set of plastic (carbon) Chinese wheels going down a hill at 50 mph. They could explode it any moment!
