I'm an old 60s vet. The choice of sniper rifles has gotten much better since my day. I do still love my Remington 700 with a heavy barrel. My scope is a 6×24 . When we had farm property I had plenty of distance to practice. The range I use to go to which is Jim Clark's old range only went out 400 yards but that's probably enough these days . When l policed here l was the police department unofficial sniper . They really didn't have that position back then . All in all the 60s were very interesting for me.

I have the Solos in 6.5 (review on my channel) and it shoots 1/2 groups all day, I've managed a few 1/4 inch groups with load development. All handloads, my Solos has never seen a factory round.

We actually have one company range here in Shreveport Louisiana with 100 yd indoor ranges that's about as far out as I can get around here these days because I don't have a place to go practice any further .

Anytime anything touches your barrel it will affect harmonics. Unless you have a tuner to tune your harmonics, it’s a 50/50 if it will positively or negatively affect accuracy.

I went on a whim and grabbed the stag arms pursuit bolt action in 6.5 creedmoor. With Aero being the parent company it runs the solus action. I am hitting (when I focus) up to 5 shots on top of one another. Even when I am not as focused, it is always within 0.65” at 100yds. I’d love to see a comparison because it’s my first rifle and I love it so far. But I’m still considering a second version and the AP solus is in the running.

@@ChickenNuggetDino it’s not stag specifically, it’s aero precision. It’s their Solus action. They are now the parent company for stag. So from what I gather you are getting an action, a barrel, and and overall product from 3 key manufacturers in the Aero ownership group. Regardless, it’s shoots excellent and anyone I’ve let try it agreed. Simple, fun, accuracy….

I’m really really considering getting this rifle chambered in 6mm creedmoor both for coyote/varmint hunting as well as getting into PRS. 6mm creedmoor seems to be fairly affordable to reload. I wish I was able to get my hands on one of these in person to make sure I like it before I buy it. Love the videos and the channel guys!!

You could do a custom build for the price of a Solus. Great review either way.

True, and you can build out your Solus to your specifications too. They really made it modular. Thank you!

I’m very interested in doing this myself. Can you give me some resources? I’m an AR guy, haven’t spent much time behind a bolt action, though, so my knowledge is limited. Thanks!
@StuninRub

@jacobhinkston6804 You buy a chasis, you buy the action, and you get a prefit barrel and torque it all to spec. Much simpler than an AR, but the torque spec are important and you require specialized tools. So no ugga duggas like an AR.
@StuninRub

You cannot do a custom rifle for the same price. The Solus sells for 1899 dollars in the configuration for the video.
@Talix.
4 ай бұрын
@StuninRub "Custom" is a relative term. A decent chasis, good barrel and action would come out around the same as a Solus, possibly a little more If what you want is a bit on the expensive side but you will have your own "custom" rifle just how you want it. Yes you could go out and spend x3, x4 what a Solus costs but I'm talking about what you can build instead of buying a Solus.

I'm certain they do, but not sure who. The chassis has tapped holes for a bridge too.
@plrodrig123

If Aero manufactured the Solus with an M24 or MTU profile rather than the Sendero, you would see that the suppressor wouldn't affect it as much due to a heavier and more rigid barrel. The suppressor acts as a tuner weight and, in this case, makes it less accurate. Hopefully Aero will manufacture M24/MTU barrels through Ballistic Advantage soon.

I may take another run at this with the Aero Precision suppressor to see how it affects accuracy.

Suppressors should be readily available enough that you could biy several types with different internal geometry, to see if _that_ might be causing issues with precision.
