I was given permission to post this tutorial on my channel from Aethon’s creator, Kyle Boyer of Foldable Flight. Aethon was the most requested paper plane from my Summer School students at Hale Keiki School (2024), and just by watching it soar through the air it is not hard to see why. After folding it so many times, I had naturally discovered a simplified folding sequence for Aethon that included stabilizer winglets, and felt that I could help give people more success at folding it. That, and since Aethon was only introduced in a cluster tutorial as an advanced model, it also didn’t get the full limelight that I think it deserves.
The only [optional] tools you might need for this tutorial are something thin and long (li.e. a pencil) to poke the locking fold into place near the end of the folding sequence as well as some scotch tape to reinforce the nose (for usage longevity) and to keep the layers from lifting apart over time.
