My grandmother, Anna Mae Waddell Queen graduated from Kentucky Christian Normal school in Grayson, Kentucky in May of 1915. She taught in one room school houses until she married my grandfather, Calvin Ezra Queen. Calvin was one of 12 children and being the biggest child, worked and only had 6-months of education. Anna taught my grandfather. They both did well for the times. My grandfather was supervisor for inland gas company and helped many with jobs during the depression. Anna became a "chart reader" for inland gad company. She worked and had 3 sons. She was a wonderful role model for the women's movement when I was in high school/college.
