I bought my wife a used Terra Trike Cruiser (to help with her strength and conditioning after a cancer battle that left her in a wheelchair) for a fraction of the cost of a new trike that I assumed was only a few years old but it was in such good shape that I had no idea it was discontinued 12 years ago! Sure, it needed a little mechanical love at first but she LOVES it and LOVES getting out for some fresh air and a little independence riding paved trails at some local parks. She's up to 3 miles now which is pretty impressive considering she can barely walk 10 feet! Some folks can be a little snobby towards Terra Trikes but not everyone needs a $7000 hardcore touring machine, especially when dealing with a river of medical bills coming in!

I purchased a Terra Trike Rambler and added a motor. Being disabled, I was desperate to be able to get back outside and go on trails & that was the best option for me. I had to add the head rest, wrist & feet straps and mirrors. The one thing I wish I had thought about was suspension. I thought, I'll be on mostly paved paths so it wasn't necessary to spend so much more. I was wrong. We're saving up and 1 day I'll have the bike I need for my needs. Right now, I'm still enjoying the Rambler vs being stuck inside.

I have a terra trike. I love it so much that I bought the battery option. It's great for my back and legs.

I bought a new Trident Stowaway 2 ($1,900) and had nothing but breakdowns from the beginning. I never abused to trike nor road it in the rain. I'd list the problems, but they're too numerous. Let's just say they range from 24+ broken spokes to catastrophic cracks in the frame. So, I bought a $6,000 Triot with Rohloff hub and other great features. I started having problems right away, including all the ball bearings on the left side of the front crank disintegrating. I returned it after 3 months. I must have a trike curse because these are good brands, and I'm not aware of anyone who's had the extensive issues I've had. I REALLY miss having a trike, but I won't risk paying for another. 😞

We don't carry either of those brands, not necessarily because of issues you've listed, but because of how much we believe in the trike brands we do. You can check out our Pros & Cons of the Top 4 Trike Brands video to see the differences!

I still ride my Greenspeed GT1 every day, everything works well so why would I upgrade? 16” wheels mean that the Tyers wear out faster but Ido up to six thousand klms per year I’m disabled and 70 years old. Cheers all, stay safe out there!

I have a question about buying used. At my auto shop I use, I can bring a car in and for $100 they will run a diagnostic on it and tell me if it is in good shape. Do trike shops do that too? This would be my first trike and I am wary of forking over money with out some expert looking at it. (This is FB marketplace.)

It depends on the shop, especially since there are not many trike only shops. I could recommend calling a trike shop closest to you and make an appointment if you can for that sort of thing. Hope that helps!

Have you known anyone to up-size the rear wheel on the Terra Trike Maverick? I am considering purchasing one. I am 6'3" and weigh 265.

Hey Kevin, it is not a common upgrade for the Maverick. Since TerraTrike designs their trikes with a consistent wheel-size for each model, there can be some consequences. You could potentially get heel strike on the ground since the lifted rear with a 26 will angle the crankset lower. Feel free to give us a call to chat further!

Unfortunately I can't afford $1000 let alone $1500+ and for $3000 I might as well buy an ebike.
