I don't usually comment on KZitem videos, but I appreciate this channel so much, and this episode to be specific. Nimeona that I can actually get a reliable clean car with less than 350,000, niache kutembea kama mifugo.
@upscaleshack

I agree with your list in theory. However the "reliable" piece only goes as far as the previous owner(s) have maintained the car. The challenge in Kenya is finding any car on that list under 350K that has been maintained and well kept. Too many are only fixed by a jua kali mech when they break, and then only told "just make it run as cheaply as possible" rather than "return it to good operating condition with original parts."

True. It makes buying locally used cars a gamble. One person will find a reliable one while another would find the source of all their pain in the newly acquired automobile.

One correction about the AE100/101: The Levin was a Corolla and the Trueno was the sprinter. But you were right on longevity. I have a 1993 Trueno with a 4age 20v silvertop. Have had it for 20yrs and its bulletproof. Extremely reliable I have bought another car but decided not to sell the Trueno. Not only is it reliable, but those 20v engines are fun to drive so for me its a perfect spare car. Another thing I like is that its a manual which increases the fun factor and also the fact that manuals are not really being made much any more

Great insights as always Erick. I'm happy to see the 406 featured. I have seen a lot of misconceptions about these. They are super reliable, fast, comfortable, and have nice features ahead of their time. The trick is to use ex-Marshalls mechs and electricians. You don't want kawayas messing with the electricals. Also, use din batteries for all Peugeot models.

Vitz iko powa saana but looks so small for tall guys, but gari safii sana. Unless ka ina weza kuwa modified. Maybe , you could have included Toyota Passo along side Vitz. Am taking about the one that is there before the new models, KB something. The passo looks small outside but ndani ni spacious, especially mbele. The only problem though is that ni kama haiendani na rough road saana. Hope one day, you will make a video of a video about small engines reliable cars, 1300cc and below Otherwise, keep up the good work

There are some older cars that I love. My biggest issue with them is the safety they lack, especially after seeing how much safety has evolved in modern vehicles. Feel like I can't live without ABS, stability control, multiple airbags and strong chassis that's able to take bigger impacts. Kenyan roads are nasty, imagine the biggest main artery that serves Kenya's interior and multiple countries from Msa to South Sudan, Uganda, Rwanda, etc... Is still one way! 😡

You've skipped some fantastic cars due to the "below 350k" limit. If you can do a series of those below 500k would be great so that we can get coverage of some cars such as the Toyota Starlet Glanza and others which are slightly above 350k and therefore not covered in this episode.
