I think the 1176 compression u did was slowest attack which to me, doesn't catch the peaks or transient of the vocal enough, but it's all good, my opinion, 12oclock attack, same with ur release is okay
@Beniemacaulay
4 ай бұрын
It’s catches the peaks but allows the transients to pass through. Exactly what I was aiming for. I wasn’t trying to do any aggressive compression on the vocals at that stage. Also the attack time for the 1176 is very fast in comparison to other compressors so even the slowest attack time on this revision of the 1176 compressor is still faster than 10ms. Which is the sweet spot to be at if you’re trying to retain the transients of your signal.

I love this breakdown really learnt alot would definitively improve my songs since i mix them myself I have a question though i saw that you turned the volume knob(fader) of the lead vocal to like -11db on the mixer and you also put a gain plugin and downed it to -8.0db the volume knob is my question why'd you do that ?
@Beniemacaulay
4 ай бұрын
Mixing is all about balancing right? Aside turning down the pre-fader gain to -8db I still have to set the levels of different elements of the mix to my desired level. Maybe in your mix you can decide not to do that it’s totally up to you.

One day don’t wait for me ohh. Search KZitem TODAY like this. You will find your answer.
How do you get the vocals to sit properly in the mix but not be too loud and clear?
@Beniemacaulay
4 ай бұрын
First of the vocals are clear. They don’t need to be loud to be clear tho and I think that’s what you meant. But to answer your question, there’s not one solution to making that happen it’s a combination of getting the vocal processing right (especially the EQing and multi-band compression) and making sure it sounds great and adjusting the overall levels of the vocals. But if you’re struggling with vocal processing I have dope vocal presets that will get your vocals from 0-100 very quickly you can follow the link in the video description to buy. I have presets with all waves plugins, All Fabfilter plugins and a combination of both waves and Fabfilter plugins. If you have any other questions let me know.
