Laura, you took the words out of my mouth. I have been suffering with what I now know to be a hypertonic, non-relaxing pelvic floor for years and years and it has been completely missed by traditional doctors. A misdiagnosis of tailbone pain (attributed to a Pilonidal cyst for years by a doctor that never even bothered to physically examine me or ask me to point to the source of pain) has snowballed into chronic constipation and IBS-C. Three other doctors I was sent to for the chronic constipation and for the “Pilonidal cyst” completely missed the signs that this was a cascading, interrelated problem. Getting nowhere and knowing I wasn’t being taken seriously, I resolved to try everything I could, hoping at least I could rule things out and get closer to an answer and some relief. I booked appointments with a naturopath, a physiotherapist and a pelvic floor therapist after being told that I had IBS-C and that my gastroenterologist Consultation appointment was months and months away (a referral I had to beg for). My naturopath listened intently to what my health concerns have been and made a comprehensive plan for dealing with each issue to improve my symptoms. She also took less than five minutes to ask if I had ever seen a pelvic floor therapist. Someone was listening and validating my experience and suspicions. I had my first pelvic floor physio appointment that week and she recognized the second I walked through the door how severe my condition was. We are weeks in, and have not been able to complete the internal assessment exams yet due to the level of tension and clenching presenting even in initial assessments. My first physiotherapist appointment confirmed this tension even further when I was assessed with one hip curling forward and inward out of alignment, and my physiotherapist asking if I had ever been assessed or diagnosed with scoliosis. I always knew myself as ‘tense’. I had experienced gynaecologists repeatedly telling me to relax during routine PAP tests. I have been told by every massage therapist I have ever (rarely) seen as being “extremely tense”. The signs were all there, but nobody ever went any further than that and it took me years of being gaslighted by my primary care physician to finally start seeking out anything that might offer some relief, being sick of being prescribed more and more laxatives and being dismissed entirely for pain that is never diagnosed or treated. The stretching routines from my physiotherapists are already helping some and relaxation techniques are part of that. Dr.Bri, your KZitem channel, and all of your content thoroughly explaining what types of pelvic dysfunction exist and ways to cope with and improve them was confirmation to me that I was on the right path and gave me the confidence to make those appointments and start the long overdue work of beginning to heal. I cannot thank you enough. You are doing extremely important work, and this platform makes it accessible to so many women who are suffering and have been missed by traditional approaches and piecemeal medicine. THANK YOU.

I'm from a Muslim country that does not perform cervical examinations or vagina wall swabs on virgins, and I am now experiencing vaginal burning and dryness and I suffered so much because I didn't have discharge to be swabbed so I was given antifungal medication and it didn't work. The burning got bad that I thought about quitting my job.. Then I found out about vulvodynia and pelvic floor dysfunction and I realized my mothers cancer diagnoses a few months ago made me so stressed that it probably caused this flare up. I still don't know if I have an infection so I am still stressed but doing these exercises just gives me momentary relief and I love you for that.

Amazing story, thank you. I’m 63 and living with IC for 50 years, I’ve look through your video and not sure which one would work best for my condition. I looked at the program your offering and I’m interested, but it’s a little steep for me at this time. If you could suggest a video to get me going in the meanwhile it would be great❣️

Thank you for this, I'm a male but have had pelvic pain, urinary & bowel problems for almost 5 years now, I often feel like giving up but hearing stories like this give a bit of hope that you can still recover even after such a long period of time. None of the pelvic PTs in my country treat men, and doctors here laugh and say men don't get pelvic floor problems, but I have found a little bit of relief doing some of your videos. Do you have a recommendation of which gentle breathing/stretching videos men should look at first? I'm scared of making it even worse by doing things without guidance (I think I overdid it before and made it worse) but am so tired of living like this

When they prescribed the antibiotics, what did they tell you they were prescribing it for? Uti? What type of infection did they think you had?
@lauramariascapin9789

hI! Sorry I just saw your question now, the antibiotics were always for UTI yes, either 10 day "wide range" or specific to a certain bacteria that they found once in all the many many tests so they just assumed they would work and gave them to me as if they were over the counter throat candies or something :/
