Just store the almost empty bottle upside down. The remaining detergent should flow into the cap (careful you don't spill it when twisting off the bottle). No need to use any more, more doesn't equal cleaner clothes.

Apparently just turning them upside down won't allow any remaining liquid out of the container because of the spout. That's what he was showing us. The spout blocks the last amount of liquid from coming out of the container and turning them upside down doesn't work. That's the reason for removing the lip. I generally turn the empty container upside down over into the new container and make sure the lips lock in order to let it drain. I've been thinking that the old container has been draining empty into the new one all this time. This shows me that it hasn't been.

Add 2 cups of each powder and stir(if you have a mixer paddle for a drill that works great) cover for 24 hours stir again. You may use old soap bottles or I pour it in to 1 gallon vinegar bottles. I have been doing this for years & I have found out not every laundry detergent or fabric softener bottle have a removable pouring spout! I have found out that Gain laundry detergent & fabric softener bottles their pouring spout CAN NOT BE REMOVED! Even on the brands that the spout is removable sometimes you still can't get it all out because when pouring it out even with the spout pulled out the liquid goes into ring seal at the top of the bottle. So what I do, (BUT PLEASE YOU HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL, YOU COULD USE THOSE SAFETY GLOVES THAT PROTECT YOUR FINGERS/HANDS FROM GETTING CUT) I get a utility knife (box cutter) & cut an upside-down like triangle cut on the opposite side of the handle, then pour it out like normal & it won't pool up in the ring seal at the top of the bottle. Then swish some water around in the bottle & pour it out. I usually swish water a couple of times, because I am ocd & I have to make sure I get every last drop out! When my husband saw me doing this he was just as shocked as you was. My opinion the detergent & fabric softener makers do this on purpose. Because if they wanted us to know to remove the pouring spout to get all the liquid out easier you'd think it would be printed somewhere on the bottle even if it is very tiny print. But its not. They want us to waste it even if it is just enough for one more load because we will have to buy more, more often! I know some will say are serious, its just enough for maybe one load? But that one load adds up after a while!

I don't buy those giant plastic bottles anymore. I use laundry sheets. Better for the environment too

Laundry sheets really ARE so much better for the environment, and in more than just one way.. Not only do the bottles not wind up in landfills, but the savings on shipping is enormous!

Look at doing this with other products too. It’s amazing how much is left. I cut the tube/bottle in half. Also get a “tube wringer” for crimping out products in metal tubes (and it works for plastic tubes too, just that the crimp won’t “stay”)

Cutting in half - same! The whole bottle sides are thickly covered 😅

I also think the recommwnded amount is wrong per load size. I think it only takes a small amount of 'concentrated' laundry soap. The faster we run out, the more money they make.

I remember a few years back a laundry detergent company had an ad saying to use less, people didn't need to use so much. I thought it weird because most companies if not all want you to buy, buy, buy.

Why would you not know they come out? It's a different color, it's not fused to it, the top of the bottle doesn't fold on top of the nuzzle. Even if it didn't come off, in my household we use a knife! That detergent is coming out, one way or another.

Or switch to detergent sheets. They're lighter, no residue, less packaging, way easier to travel with, and your clothes get just as clean (in my experience).

Have tried so many laundry detergents over the years. Real test of a laundry detergent is doing the bathtub plunger and bucket. This is when the true tests of laundry detergents show up. Persil is the best. My apartment landlord only allows my 350 Watt twin tub because it sits inside the bathtub for the draining of water. For both the twin tub and bucket-plunger method, the Persil works well on cleaning power. One container of soapy laundry detergent lasts a few small to medium sized loads on the washing part. Rinsing of clothes is a different issue. Too much laundry soap equals one or more extra washing out of the soapy suds. This does not do well on conserving water. Persil is definitely the best laundry detergent and I look for it on sale.

This can be applied to many products. My coffee creamer comes in a cardboard 1/2 gallon container with a screw top lid. Once it’s empty, I open the cardboard container and get one more serving.

Okay. Please everyone switch to laundry soda instead of detergents. It's free of all the crap, better for us and the environment and comes in a box or bag. Saves your clothing. No giant plastic throwaway! More economical by far.

Fun design quirk: if you have any left in the lid after pouring detergent, placing it back on the bottle allows it to slowly disappear down the throat of the bottle, to never be seen again in the circumstance that the detergent level is too low.

My family has done this type of thing with any kind of liquid that comes in a container (detergents, softeners, shammpoos, conditioners, etc...). I will continue to add water to the laundry detergent and fabric softness containers and dumping them into the washing machine uniting the water comes out totally clear and without any sudsy bubbles. We will add a few drops at a time to the "empty" condiment containers, and shake it up really well - you only add a little bit at a time until it is just thin enough get it all to come out easier when you go to use it.

Also you can wash the measuring cup with the washer water as it is filling so it doesn’t get all soapy. Or toss it in with the laundry but I recommend to pull it out before the dryer. If you spill any soap just wipe it up with a garment that is going into the washer.

Yep! I have a huge jug that I pour all the remaining detergent into. I recommend to also put a small amount of water in afterward to rinse the last detergent out. You can immediately use in washer or like me add it to the new jug. The detergent is too expensive to toss out one drop. 😊

I have known they come out... I actually take an old bottle and split a new bottle 1/2 and 1/2 them fill them with water... Keeps ya from using too much. If you read the directions and find the actual line in the cap.... most of the time people are using way too much... and the manufacturers made those caps huge on purpose.
