I want to thank you so much for this, I'm an advanced user of PS and illustrator that made me appreciate the on point video you made about the highlights of the main advantage of the After Effects in a nutshell; which is rare to find for ppl to know where to start. I wish that you could do the same for Premiere pro also

I think that knowing how to use stock footage inside after effects is a pretty useful thing. Especially if you want to make an action film and don't want to create the explosions, fire and muzzle flashes yourself.

I'm curious about the last tip, knowing how to use templates. How do professionnal Motion Graphics artists think of this ? Do pros also use templates ? Or is it frowned upon in the industry ?
@SonduckFilm
7 жыл бұрын
I look at it this way. If you have to turn a job around fairly quick and a template is very close to the final result your client/boss wants, then go for it. At the end of the day, your trying to make your client happy and sometimes being economical about time and money is the way to go. Most of the time this is a doable solution.
@alans056
7 жыл бұрын
I see, thanks. And you would bill the client the price of the template ?
@SonduckFilm
7 жыл бұрын
Depends. If they requested it, then yes. If it's a lower budget job, then maybe. If they are paying for my desired rates, then no. It's really up to how you want to run your business.

....make sure Output Color set to Straight not Premultiplied when rendering with alphas, especially if you have soft edges....Premultiplied (matted) smashes everything on top of a black background before cutting out an alpha, which will make soft light-colored edges grey and muddy....ironically Straight "premultiplies" only the colors present in the graphics creating weird banned halos around all soft edges that will ultimately look pure and clean once the alpha is applied.

@tiaan_va

CLEARLY you have never used after effects before. AE has a LOT more functionality in regards to rotoscoping than premiere will ever have. In Premiere it is too track effects to footage in a rough manner, AE is a fully fledged compositing program made for things like roto. Don't go about making retarded statements if you don't know what you are talking about.
