Madam, I just love your videos! I'm pretty new to growing, but my grandma always had a real small garden and she was also very laid back, just planted and whatever grew, she ate! Sometimes it's easy to get wrapped up in not knowing everything but trial and error is just part of the process. Thank you for sharing all your garden moments with us and teaching us to take it easy!❤

My favorite last-minute crops are ornamental veggies/herbs and edible flowers. It's surprising how beautiful some of them are. When it comes to pest resistance, scientific names are your friends. Depending on who you ask, there are anywhere from three to seven species of squash with varying degrees of pest resistance. I grow almost exclusively C. moschata because it's nearly immune to vine borers.

There is a fine line between planned and chaos gardening sometimes. I really enjoy your videos. I dont like the camera switches but i am usially listening while i am working in my own garden so it doesnt bother me that much . I grow my tomatoes in 10 gallon bags. And am about to plant some squash in some 7 gallon. SB bugs are bad here. And even though ive got some going verical (first yr with cattle panel arches) we've had weird weather and nothing is really what it should be now. Houston is just now getting some hot days. So i expect things to explode with growth soon. We have such a long grow season i can still direct sow just about everything even though it's May. I jave zero luck with flowers from seed, even sunflowers don't grow well for me. I have a family work day planned for this weekend so i have a bunch of projects written down for my kids and their families to divide and conquer. I know you do the cinderblock beds but want to encourage you to build your own from fence pickets. You can always find free used pickets in the spring but even if you buy them they are $1.97 each and it only takes 6 if you have scrap wood to use in the corners and as side braces or 7 if you dont. A whole 3x6x12 bed for around $15. And its expandable! I just built 6 sides to expand my three beds by an additional 6ft. I may go to 18 ft though since i bought extra pickets. It is really easy. And they last awhile. Its too hot for us to use cinderblock. Some are successful but i know they have to water way more because the bed gets baked by the heat given off of the bricks. Love your garden. Keep it up. I know deciding what goes where is difficult and i too have SO many Mystery plants. I never label. Its a great surprise lol

Hey Asia, I tried the Alexandria zucchini last year from Jerras Garden, and it did well, it's pest and disease-resistant, it did eventually get taken down by those darn borers, but it took a while and I got a good harvest. Many municipal areas were given ornamental trees, at discount /free, that put out more flowers ( but that= more pollen, and it was sterile. (Less maintenance /fruit, but more flowers) I forgot the names of the trees . Our town made that mistake. They chopped most of them down because of it. Unfortunately they were mature and beautiful...but the whole town complained they couldn't walk near/ under them without sneezing/asthma! Lol

Like hanging out with a good friend.... Love the video. Question: Do you ever see snakes with everything so close together? I've done more dense planting this year off my patio and wonder if that will be an issue. Didn't think about it until a couple days ago finishing mom's garden and a baby one popped up in my trowel as I dug a hole for marigolds. Like to have passed out 😅
