Don't think they understand how lucky they are to have shad at those sizes. Honestly the only time that we really get those larger fish is right after the spawn in December and January. And to not even consider a shad for the table is really disappointing. But then again I guess that's why they are so abundant and large out in the US.

I use to catch tons of Bluefish in the surf at Aventura Fl, when they use to let people fish there. Off the north side rocks at Goverment Cut, is where the Bluefish bite good when they are running. The best lure for the Bluefish is the Rapala Long Cast Minnow lure in mullet color and the next is the GOT-CHA plug in white or silver. The Bluefish are great fish to catch, because they are so aggressive & fight hard. I call they the Dracula of all Jacks!!!!

South African here! Bluefish (we call them Elf or Shad) are great eating but you have to bleed the fish properly. Cut and break its neck as soon as you take it out the water then gut it at the beach. This prevents the horrible bloodline in the fish. Then salt and pepper and on the coals! Epic!

Bro come in Italy. We all use that tecknique to catch blufish. We use also a slight different way to rig the bait: we use double single 4/0 hook and we wraph on a mullett filett with a strip of stareoform to make it float in the wather. Depending if the length of the leader line the bait will float more close to the surface or the bottom. You will change the depth depending were the blufish will be hunting during the season

This blue fish trace is more like a king mackerel trace for deep sea fishing though, we normally use 2 singles, not trebles, and we use number #15 wire, they won’t link that steel, if they do, it’s easy to bend it back, also if you add a red wine cork on top of the bait you will catch waaaaay more blue fish.

Thats very similar to the way we fish in the uk 13' beach caster brake away lead .We call it bate elastic you can make up a big bate wrap it in elastic then use a bate clip on the line just behind the lead that releases the bate on impact with the water .With a multiplier on the rod and with a 6oz lead 200 yards is possible .In the summer where i live the bate is a sand eel or soft back crab and winter black lugg squid fish cocktails and a new bate called cart(crab ) in a pva bag wiped on with the elastic. There are so few fish left that a good sent trail is key. With out the bate elastic the bate would explode on casting.
