The reason for buying/using a bone conduction head phone for my wife is because she only has one ear. That is, although both inner ears are developed well, one outer ear (the shell and the channel into your head to the eardrum) did not develop. As a result, she is basically deaf on one side. This implies that she cannot hear directional sound, e.g., does not know whether a car comes from left or right or aft, and consequently hears everything in monosound. Now with these aftershokz she was able to hear, for the *first time in her life*, stereo music! That was very emotional, even more so because she then realised how much she got used to being handicapped in every day life where all the sounds she hears are, well, without any depth or direction. Medical implants do exist that work with bone conduction as well, but that requires quite an operation. So these bone conduction headphones have really made a significant difference. Just my 2 cts to highlight an additional dimension of use, literally :-D

I'm a postie too, using the Titaniums currently. Considering the switch, though will likely wait for a price drop. Bone conduction headphones are definitely worth it, having a pause button is useful too for when you need to talk to someone for a signature/give direction etc. Being able to expand your knowledge base through educational podcasts whilst working has been invaluable, and these seem to be the optimal way to do so.

I can say at least for the Trekz Air, the phone call functionality is very good. Also, the distance from the playback device is very good. With the Bluetooth 5.0, I can leave my phone at my desk, and go to the kitchen in the office, close to about 80-ish feet away. It allows the playback and also pause/play functionality still if someone decides to have a conversation with you while you're jamming out.

So I have a pair of Airs and have used them daily for well over a year. They became a necklace for me. I use them for background music and audio quality is not importance to me. It was more important to just hear some music regardless of its quality. I just got the Aeropex today. I have a job coming up where having 8 hrs of audio time would be needed and I've heard the audio is a substantial improvement over the Airs. I wanted to give a personal review using them for that. First off, the audio quality is a substantial improvement over the Airs. I can hear much more of the mid-range while vocals are still there. Bass is an improvement, too, but these are still not an audiophile's headset. They are for melomaniacs like me. These are a massive improvement sound quality anyhow compared to the Airs. I honestly believe quite a bit of the audio generated in the Airs are coming from the vents along the side of the "bone bud" facing the ear. This isn't a bad solution, but for ppl who have hearing loss due to conduction issues (eardrum, middle ear issues) they will still be missing part of the sound. It was missing for me. Granted, the Airs gave me hearing in my right ear I don't ever remember hearing so there is definitely bone conduction occuring, but when I put on the Aeropex the difference was immediate. I could hear the compensation that my brain has been doing all these years turning up the volume on my right side! It felt like the bonebuds were misplaced, but I realized that, no, it was my brain overcompensating on my right side. It took a good 3-4 songs before that wasn't apparent anymore. I also do not have anyone talking about sound leakage from these. Though I rarely have my bonephones up loud enough that others can hear it, they do not notice these at all. Airs would be "hearable" by ppl near me if I had them up to 2/3 max volume. Granted, if Aeroplex are that loud I can't really hear you, but they don't rattle like they do with Airs until the volume is almost maxed out. In conclusion, if you want background music in your life while still easily being able to interact with those around you and you have the dough, get the either of these products! The sound quality alone, however, is worth the money for the Aeropex. Either way, when you learn the real power of bonebuds and that they give you a second set of functioning ears while leaving your natural ears completely intact you'll never take them off!

I recently started as a delivery rider (e-bike, I live in the Netherlands so cycling is very safe already), and found out that even one earbud in is still dangerous, as it pretty much leaves you deaf on one side. I got these yesterday and got to use them in the evening, I could not be happier! I mostly listen to music, and they are just fine for that. I want the music to be in the background, because I need to focus on riding safely, I don't want to focus on the details of the music. These are just great for that! I can highly recommend these for anyone who wants to listen to music while out and about. The music still sounds good, just when you focus on it, you realize you're missing a lot of detail. But, it's background music, so it's actually a good thing.

@RyanPurcell

@@bbolanda18 They felt great to me! The Airs probably apply less pressure as they are smaller than the Treks. My helmet has padding around the ears (helmet is in my profile pic, but not easy to see). The play/pause button can be pushed through my ear padding without taking off my gloves. It doesn't feel squished to my head, but I'm used to it on my skull. I let my step-dad wear it one run and he did not like it (he'd never worn them before that, too). He went straight back to his AirPods. So, I guess wearing them regularly and getting used to them prior to putting on a helmet is ideal. For me, AirPods put too much pressure in my ears with a helmet on. Without any ability to push a pause/play button during a run, plus could fall out (and are white as the snow!), they don't seem like the best for snowboarding to me.

Thanks for the review. I used the Titanium for 2 years and had them replaced twice on warranty. Once because it kept switching off. The second time because the band broke (very nice of the customer service to replace it for me). Fantastic headphones but every so slightly uncomfortable. I listen to podcasts mainly and I found them amazing for this purpose. All I really need is slightly better comfort. Based on what you've said the Air the way to go. The Aeropex, at current prices, seems still a bit too much for me to invest.

The main difference with the Xtrainerz is that those doesn’t have Bluetooth but instead built in memory to use as MP3 player, the reason Bluetooth doesn’t work well in water, so they tell that Aeropex are not intended for swimming, because they prefer you to buy the other product creating segmentation and possibly increasing sales, but they didn’t apparently handycap the “waterproofness” of the Aeropex to encourage you to get an Xtrainerz, so in reality as long as you have close enough the source the Aeropex also would do the trick, but I didn’t try it yet, but I’ll do

@@jihedyacoubi5381 Actually yes, in fact it can work but Bluetooth range is greatly diminished, to the point that actually with my phone (also water resistant but anyone could use a waterproof case if they use the phone as their Bluetooth source) if I remember correctly because was quite some months ago, didn’t work from hip height and also not with the phone just above the water and you slightly under as the superficial tension of the water was probably hampering heavily the signal, so in order to the Aeropex work well for swimming you need the source clearly near your head probably as a some sort of collar, maybe with a Bluetooth MP3 player have a stronger signal than an iPhone SE 2020 it can work further away, and maybe an armlet case or something in those lines, if you can do that it could be used underwater, well you can also have your hand with the phone near the head all the time but that isn’t useful for anything else than a test. That been said, that’s UNDER water, if it’s more for showers or things that not involve complete submersion it works fine, you don’t have to have it even on yourself, can be meters away. So unless you can get a creative solution to the very, very very restrictive range underwater you better get the Xtrainerz, but I must say I didn’t test just swimming per se just those tests, as I didn’t have a way to keep the phone on my while swimming I didn’t even bother to try but when swimming depending on the style you can have a good chunk of the device outside the water so it may work from meters away but I didn’t test that

They have an IP67 rating. The second number determined water- resistance and a 7 means that they can be submerged in water up to 1m deep and they have to last there for 30 minutes without damage to the device. Could you take them swimming? Maybe. Just keep in mind that 1m is not very deep.

Better sound quality requires earplugs, IP67 is waterproof to 1 meter (minimum, international standard) but they sound funny underwater, they're not for swimming. I used the Koss for almost a month, but I started getting headaches and I think it also effected my hearing a little. I was using them 8-9 hours a day. The neck speaker is a Doltech unit that I got on Amazon but it has the worst audio prompts and vibration reminders ever.
