When I was little and my dad was in his 30s we used to listen to this song in the car. He used to make me be quiet so he could just enjoy the song ... he’d always have tears in his eyes. Things happen, circumstances change. Two things are certain. Life has gone fast ( trying to figure out where the last 35-40 years have gone) and the second being hind sight is always 20/20. 7 years ago I played this at my daddy's memorial where I spread his ashes. It was a dead still day in the desert of Arizona and when the song came on I knew my dad was there and there was a deep gust of wind. I know he's resting easy. Love him and miss him every day. One of the greatest songs ever written. The deep lyrics and the piano go together so well. Seeing Bob play this in concert several times in Seattle always left me speechless. Thank the Universe for putting Bob Seger on our planet in our lifetime!

I went with a girl back in the 50's for sixteen months loved her dearly then one night she called me and said it was over and that hurt, three days later she cam back and said she cried the whole weekend only to call me the next day and confirm it was over. Like Bob says I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then. Fits perfectly/

I. am 62, divourced, and a recent surviver of a stroke and heart attack. l just recently started really getting back to the old rock that l grew up on and man is it therapudic. l feel the melancoly that some of u express, but Just look back with a appreciation. be glad u can still experiance life, l do and l am a cripple

I'm 62 also and divorced a long time ago. Haven't had any coronary issues but I've been coming back from injuries for a few years now and am doing a lot of things I thought I'd never do again. Just keep on running against the wind, bro.

I know exactly how you feel we thing life is long but it's so short. the boy I fell in love with when I was 12 I married at 17 and in was killed in the air force when he was 27 I've never loved anyone like that again. I wish I could get in my car and just drive go parking at night and make out listening to music I love we get older but we don't forget being loved I will die without anyone holding me

My Father was a Vietnam Vet. My Grandmother used to tell me that he was a totally different person before he was drafted. My Father showed me how to be a man without really saying much. I remember his routine after a long week of work he would come home with a 12 pack of beer go into the basement and play his old vinyl records and me and my brother and sisters would follow him and just look through his records sing and dance. I believe artists like Bob Segar is what got him through the hard times in his life. I miss you Dad

Ed--I didn't realize how prophetic this song would be in my life back in '68 and '69 when I was dancing with my sweetie in a jam-packed nightclub near Detroit. How did such an old soul like Seger know all that we know now...and wish we didn't.

July 13, 2018. 70 years old on September 13th and still running against the wind. Bob sings the kinds of songs that touch and move me so deeply inside. Disabled Vietnam vet who is eternally grateful for artists like him. Still mostly mostly surrounded by strangers who are definitely not friends.

My daddy turned 70 the other day too. I put this song on because it reminds me of him... He is a Vietnam vet too. He saw the Tet in 68 and I wish I could see through his eyes, but honestly I just see the daddy that I love so much and I miss him. Your post made me think of him, Craig. Made me smile and cry... I just discovered Bob Seger about a year ago. Being 78 I realize how much of my life was running against the wind, but I was always making headway. Looking back I got say that I had a very blessed happy life. Always discovering new things, like Mr. Seger.
