Had a change to see one at the local gun shop. Honestly worth the price fantastic quality and response time.

Was excited until I saw the proprietary battery - hopefully you will include/release an adapter for CR123s/another ubiquitous battery type.

@@gsuit2815I think you're looking at the original model listings or a typo? Everything I can find says it comes with two rechargeable battery packs and a battery charger and is still capable of allowing the use of external battery packs. Which I don't see much of a use for external battery packs when one of the included battery packs lasts for 9 to 11 hours of continuous use....

@@AGMusa because we as consumers have no control over the availability of replacement proprietary batteries, of course... whos to say you guys will have these available for sale in 6mo? What about in 3 years? Unless an adapter for readily available standard batteries is released, I will not be purchasing this product.

BINGO. I'd opt for another V1 if not (hopefully they'll keep producing THOSE, but I doubt it). World comes to an end, who wants to stop to charge batteries? How WOULD you even? Yet I can easily keep a 10-year supply of CR123s handy. SAME REASON I don't like rechargeable LIGHTS... NOT what you want after a MAJOR HURRICANE, for example.

Seeing this makes me glad I bought a v1 on deep discount on Black Friday 2023. I don’t want a field device which I can’t power from primary cells (Although I love having usbc power as a backup/for observation). Cr123, lithium AA or aaa, cr2032, 1632 are what I stack deep.

The v1 ran off of cr123, you could pack 10 of them with you and just swap when dead. The battery on the v2 is rechargeable and unique to the v2. Can't use external power source, i.e. power battery pack via USBc like the v1. Overall, less versatile power source on the v2.

YEP. As I said above: "I'd opt for another V1 if not (hopefully they'll keep producing THOSE, but I doubt it). World comes to an end, who wants to stop to charge batteries? How WOULD you even? YES, as long as conditions don't get primitive, rechargeables are "OK". But when the CHIPS (read: GRIDS) ARE DOWN...

This unit DOES accept a cr 123 battery. It goes inside a turret cap..It accepts one cr 123, and lasts about 1 - 1.5 hours..It is used as a backup to the internal battery.

You can add a riser base if you would like, but the nature of all thermals and the eye relief makes MBUS highly impractical as you would be sacrificing primary usage.

@@FilmJunkieOutdoors I LOVE my Rattler V1 (TS25-384), and my DREAM is a TS50-640! Don't hesitate! Just get a V1 if you want to use commonly-available batteries (CR123), or the V2 if you're a fan of proprietary rechargeables! Can easily hit a "baby rabbit-sized" target (3 of 3 shots in two hand warmer packets side-by-side, about 3" x 4") @ 100 yds. w/my Mini-14.
