This video is an update to our earlier presentation ‘A guide to the Sky-Watcher AZ-GTi GoTo mount and telescope range’. It provides details of a currently informal firmware revision that provides new functionality to the AZ-GTi mount head.
The primary feature allows the AZ-GTi to be switched to Equatorial mode - to exploit this option additional hardware is required (the video gives full details). The new firmware also allows the optical tube position to be altered from the default orientation (ie the arm can be repositioned 180 degrees when pointing North for arm right or left usage).
The firmware update requires the user to download two files from the support section of the www.sky-watcher.com website, and the motor update file will need to be uploaded, via the firmware uploader using the AZ-GTi’s WiFi system. General details of how to accomplish this are given in the video.
