excellent level of detail as always, the kind of info you are only going to get on a type endorsement, which as a civil pilot am otherwise unlikely to get exposure to. appreciate the content

Just came across your channel from a discord post. I can't believe your videos never came up in my searches on practically every topic you have covered. They're gold, gold! Any chance you will be doing a video showing your hardware setup and in game settings?

Hey man, this one's really great. I'll make sure to keep your tips in mind if I take this beast for the next ride. One little thing about your video, your voice was pretty quiet and so the ad in the middle of the video exploded my ears when it occurred. Greetings Milan

Problem is we don't feel forces on the other hand it cost nothing if we crash :D

In the irl apache do they have like a flight computer that does all that trimming automatically

no, how it is modeled in DCS is how it is in the real aircraft, you have to TRIM the aircraft yourself, the CSAS relies on the pilot to FLY the aircraft and TRIM the aircraft to function, it removes airmass movements from the inputs, and in the various holds it will attempt to aide in maintaining a position/attitude etc but even then it has limits on how much it can manipulate the controls, and they can and DO become saturated if you do not fly the Helicopter. The Aircraft has a PILOT for a reason, it's not just so he can sit in the back and look good, i mean the face is hidden by a 'claver for a reason, those good looks would break the mirrors otherwise ;)

Great video, but can you just confirm something? Fairly soon into the video, when you start raising the collective, you start talking about the heading hold being engaged, but not active, then becoming active.....You did not mention engagingthe heading hold at any time, do you engage this before you even start trying the initial hover test? Thanks

It’s automatically on once off the squat switch. You don’t interact with it in any way other than through the force trim, which will turn it off until you release the force trim.

@@bradmicksflightrelatedthings Ok, thanks, so just to make sure I understand this correctly, heading (and altitude?) hold are on all the time, once weight off wheels, until any control inputs take you out of the breakout values as indicated by grey box on the conbtrols indicator? And this is something separate to either attitude or altitude hold modes , correct? Thanks!

@@markturner6091 No, only the heading hold is always on (active) once off the weight on wheels (squat) switch. You have to turn Altitude (and attitude) Hold on (enable them) by pressing the force trim switch left or right. They become active once within the breakout value range and not-active outside of the breakout value range. The breakout value range is measured from the reference position (red 'x') which is updated by pressing the force trim switch in the R (release), also known as 'interupting' the force trim.

Now watch my friend as you get "But I can't feel the helicopter", "No its not right", "Its ED's bad stuff" etc.. rather then people realising that sim flying is 100% flying the bag, Rely on the Symbology and the visual cues.. The feel excuse is an excuse because no Sim pilot has ever had the 'feeling' to be trained for that, unless they are a real pilot and a real pilot should be able to transition to looking for the visual cues over the feeling as they know that feeling can lead to accidents (like oh i'm upside down when i'm not). People need to learn to fly the f**king aircraft, not make excuses.
