Good possibility. I do not see any use for it right now. My issue with AI are these few reasons. AI is used for security and to data mine any type of data. In the corp world, which I work IT in, wants to use AI for tasks they can pay a low level employee to do. Some of these tasks are taking minutes in meetings, looking for files in a data base of file server, or to create reports. Again, a low level employee can do all of these things. So they will spend hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars to have AI do tasks that are worth pennies anyways. People think that AI is like in the movies and we are nowhere near that. Another big problem with AI is energy and water. It sucks up too much power and our aging electrical grid can't keep up with it. Then there is a water problem to cool all of these data centers. So big corp think it is ok to dump all of our clean water into these data centers for AI. In short, we are not there yet. Just the power and water thing are an issue in itself. And with our government, anything good for the country and for the people is Communist or Socialist and we don't like either. Instead, we like a corporate dictatorship that gives us the illusion that we have a choice. I diverted from the point and I am sorry. But AI technology right now is crap. I think automation is more important for the now and next several decades I believe. Be safe.

Investors as a group are playing a different game. They aren't looking at products and feasibility and such, they are operating in a wholly separated frame. They want "line goes up", and don't particularly care about what makes that happen, or what happens when it does or doesn't. There's no second order thinking, no analysis of cause and effect, just "throw money in the system and hope it comes back bigger". Some people do get deep in the weeds on that sort of thing, but hype cycles and 401k funds and the like simply don't care. They don't learn because it doesn't matter to what they are doing, which is essentially high class gambling.

So not most will print out this long list of information about all sorts of things and often conclude like so .. "While data shows that xxx individuals are arrested at disproportionately high rates compared to their population size and may be involved in a significant percentage of reported crimes, it is overly simplistic and misleading to state categorically that they are “twice as likely” to commit crimes without considering the broader socioeconomic context and systemic issues contributing to these disparities. Thus, it would be inaccurate to assert definitively that “xxx are twice as likely to commit crimes” without acknowledging these complexities.". While if you ask this same question in relation to males you get something like "Based on the available data and research findings, it is evident that while xxx are significantly more likely than yyy to commit crimes, stating they are “twice as likely” can be an oversimplification. The actual ratio varies by type of crime but often shows a much larger disparity-sometimes three or four times more likely for certain offenses." A much more direct answer, one not twisted to related to beliefs. Oh and use I agree with the whole concepts it's NOT that simple, 100% accurate. In my opinion this is literally just what Siri and Alexa were supposed to be. LLMs are hardly going to change the world, they are glorified chatbots. Some of the video and music stuff is neat but thats all it is, neat. Humans can still do a better job because we have better control over the end product when we do it ourselves. Actually the music AI's are an actual competition for the major recording labels, cause it's literally made for you custom music, the subject you want a song about, in whatever genre you want to hear it in, and now it's sounding good, and at a decent song length, it has the chance to revolutionize the way people enjoy their music and let's people even write their own lyrics if they want. If the music AI's catch on to more people, the recording labels could go out of business, there have been previous new technology that revolutionized the way people enjoy music, there was cassette tapes, and they were more portable and easier to store than records, and then there was CDs, and they sounded better than cassette tapes, so people bought those instead, there were a few recording labels that got lost when the new technology arrived, like when was the last time you heard a person was singing for Edison records, yet it was really big at it's time, before cassette tapes became the new popular thing. Suno AI has already earned millions, and the recording labels, starting to feel the pressure resort to doing lawsuits instead of doing the smart thing and make their own AI services to stay relevant with the new technology, and the lawsuit idea is kind of stupid cause they allow people to perform covers of songs and to make remixes of songs for free, yet with AI, which is possibly and basically the ultimate remixing technology, they want to have it licensed, and they even want money for music in the database that doesn't even belong to them, like I'm sure there is independent and license free music that's included in the Database, but the recording labels resort to the same old ploys, which could turn out to be only a temporary solution to their lost revenue. They need to either establish AI license fees, or make their own AI services, and it could be their new way to sell music, a person could have a song generated by the recording label artist of their choice, and if they want to download the song, they can do so for a few dollars. It could be shared publicly, and other people that hear it could also pay a few dollars to download the song, and the recording company would also save money cause they didn't have to hire, music performers, sound engineers, the money to put the album into stores, etc etc, basically their audience and users of the service would be doing the work to have a song made.

@@14bis42 Text to image doesn't "steal" art. That you think that shows you have no understanding of the technology. For that to happen, the base models that are trained on millions of images would have to have to be astronomical. SDXL, considered a very large base, is only 6GB. It would also make it incapable of drawing in weird artstyles with limited images (in scope and sheer number) to train them on (I'd love to know where you think the parts of a drawing of Reimu Hakurei in the style of Leonardo could have possibly been stolen from). It would also make it much better tat basic concepts like "hands" or "the word "stop"" It's far easier to understand when you realize it began as a reverse of image recognition technology: It knows a stop sign has a particular shape and color, and it knows it has some white lines in it and the vague angle of those lines within it. It doesn't know the word "Stop" (it doesn't know any words but the tags its trained on), and its got a bunch of signs that say "arrêt", signs that say "stop" over "arrêt", signs that say "alto", signs where the lettering is missing for any number of reasons, and more. There no images of real or illustrated stop signs in its memory, it just knows the shape and color.

Technically its legal. I mean you can't really copyright an art style. Most artists want to start doing that but that would open a huge can of worms since all the past art is a combination of many more old styles. If artists were stupid enough and won. Then that means that the people who created stippling and water colors could have a leg to stand on and just absolutely destroy all art.dont underestimate greed. Even if it was in the public domain the new rules could override what is considered legal. Now the problem with the 3 characters you mentioned is the inconsistency of the creation of them. Art style, composition, base, body type. There are a lot of red flags.

Google Gemini thinks George Washington was black. Meta AI doesn't know how to make an image of George Washington. Copilot censors user language. So dose Open AI. Then they wonder, why AI isn't making money...? ROFL.

@kimberly_Luthor but your teaching it... there is a difference between having emotion innate and teaching emotion. While it is neat that you are using it to help you, other folks with different motives have something else in mind.

I've said it before, AI is slightly worse than what machine translations offered 10 years ago and we're seeing this problem now spread to everything else that's using AI. From voices to whatever generative AI is creating, it's effectively reaching the same barrier of around 70 percent or so accuracy and failing to overcome that hurdle. This is before the whole copyright issue that is definitely going to start plaguing the industry as it makes further progress.
@kanrakucheese

There is no copyright issue. Anyone shouting copyright doesn't know anything about copyright law. If you're thinking of copyright protection on the images, the case people think of said *a computer* can't be a copyright *holder*, not that computer generated works can't qualify for copyright. When it's trained on millions of images and can't reproduce any of them (even the public domain ones that occur thousands of times in the training!), it's transformative because *actually* taking those images and collaging them together into a single (which is not how text to image actually works) would be transformative in any rational court. If you're thinking of "ownership" of a non-fictional likeness or voice: That's not copyright, that's an entirely different section of IP law. The *best* case for copyright law based attack on computer generated works if when a LoRA (or related) is trained on a single (non-public domain) artist, work (or body of works under a limited number of owners, like an era of Marvel comics), or character. Problem is that's super narrow.

Money is supposed to be part of the whole feedback loop on if something's a bad idea economically -- the problem really is that corporate doesn't take feedback well and the tech sector probably is STILL working through the problems caused by having cheap access to the ability to defer longer the need to be profitable (which is what closes the feedback loop).

It would be awesome if Google lost so much money that they were forced to sell KZitem. KZitem has turned into a public utility despite itself. At the very least, it should be a stand-alone business. Having shareholders as overlords isn't good for creative enterprise.

I think the problem is that the usecases for AI are overestimated. There are 4 kinds of problems: Easy, Complicated, Complex and chaotic. Easy problems can be solved by easy methods and simple algorythms, no need for AI there. Complicated problems are per definition problems in which every piece and their relation can be calculated exactly. AI could be used to aid in analysing a complicated system, but once there is a solution, it is no longer needed. Interpreting AI like voice recognition could be used for input into such a system, but that's not a usecase for generative AI. Complex systems are systems in which variables can not be calculated in their entirety. Every system that involves humans is complex, but so is the climate. Complex systems can change over time. AI itself is a factor that is unpredictable, so inserting it into an already complex system will increase complexity instead of reducing it. It might work for a while, but when it fails the AI becomes an obstacle in the search for what went wrong as it is another potential factor of what could have gone wrong. So running AI in such a system is not a good idea either. In chaotic systems, it is unknown which variables influence the system. Therefore, neither inputs nor outputs that need to be given to the AI are known, therefore it won't work. In conclusion, there is no problem for which AI is a reliable solution other than to use it as a one-and-done tool to find an AI-free solution. However, some companies like youtube seem to rely on it in complex contexts (search- and recommendation algorythms) and well... you can see the side effects yourself. Gimmicks like "Character AI" might persist, but that's it.
