Great video Shookey! I believe the reason the ai didn’t create characters of other races was because I used my face as a reference in one but I didn’t use a specific “race” for the character it just popped out white people. I think ai should have a variety of races and ethnic backgrounds. So moving on in future projects I’ll be specific and add in characters with diverse backgrounds leading into future projects. Characters such as Devonte from Kenyon road 2009 and Angel from The Holoverse Dilemma. I use image references and style references along with facial references. Continuing I’m making new stories featuring those characters of diverse backgrounds. Stay tuned! And more wacky crazy tech and liminal spaces will return. I use ai in a way that feels authentic and true. Using effort with my promoting instead of usual blending images. It’s about getting every detail. Such as the tv to say “ Sony “ or the random strange doll on the table. To bring authenticity could also be by taking initial ideas of your own and flipping the context by handing other style references to it. For the purple and orange technology I used “ Vtech V.Smile Console” for the style and then I thought hey wouldn’t it be cool as a vr headset or as so and so? And then boom!

I wanted to clarify I wanted to go for a feeling of childhood toys and tech that have been long forgotten. Imagine you were born in 2004 and it’s now 2064 and you recall hearing about an old vtech console by one of your grandkids. They ask you what it looked like and how it functions and what games were on it. Imagine maybe you develop dementia but always in your heart has had nostalgia for the 2000s up until old age. You try your best to describe it only to forget parts of it. You fall asleep and enter a fever dream. You’re 4-5 years old again. You play your old favorite console and now remember everything but nothing is how you remember. I wanted to go for another feeling that of a parallel world or a dream world where it’s familiar and nostalgic something you swore you could’ve played but you never did. None of the video game characters exist and they only morph and blob into other cross references from your subconscious memory

The real art in AI generated art is making the right prompt to get the result you want. I think the best use for AI art is to make a starting point for your final product or to use as a template / rough draft. I would compare it to using the sample code for a project. Obviously you will need to modify and expand on the code to properly implement into your application, but it gives you a good idea on how to design your final picture. Love it or hate it, AI is a very useful tool when used properly. Just my opinion though.

I'm still on the fence of for AI use in general. I am mixed on using AI for liminal spaces. I like the authenticity of the odd photoshops and edits to existing liminal spaces or the natural ominous aura of certain photos. The artistic touch of making something liminal carries more weight when you understand it as an individual's perspective vs putting the right key terms together to get a piece. I'm always more connected and impressed with pieces that are made. AI seems to only replicate an approximation to what others have already made.

I agree with a lot of the fundamental criticisms against AI in practice (stealing people's art, problematic business practices, questionable generating preferences, lowering job opportunities, etc). However, I feel like a lot of the unethicalities that come with AI stem from how people use it, rather than AI as a whole just being plain bad in concept. I'll be the first to admit that generative AI has some pretty good potential if people just regulated AI to fix the problems people have with it by design. Even beyond things like Tyler's liminal project here, I don't think it's super farfetched to say that AI can be used for creating ultimately harmless content - think along the lines of Glorb's Spongebob parodies or that one Dr Mario meme from a few months back. As much as big companies try pushing AI as an alternate to human creativity as a whole (which I HIGHLY disagree with, just ot get that out of the way), AI could actually work as a really good foundation point for genuine human work. Rather than despising every single thing about AI as a whole because it "has no soul" or can "replace human talent for good" apparently, I only believe AI should be regulated to people who see it as a resource for human creativity in of itself. I don't wanna sound like some AI bro who's only here to go "AI is the future and you're all overracting!!!", but that's just my personal perspective on the topic of AI in retrospect. I don't wanna force any opinions on you and I doubt you do either, cool video 👍

Personally, I don't really like use of AI like ever. I thought at first it was good around 2022 when I was using it to make weird concept arts for 3D modeling by myself later, but nowadays I think it's not a good idea to use. A lot of AI programs use enough electricity to power like a hundred cars, plus programs like Microsoft Edge kinda just shove AI in your face like telling you to use "Copilot" or something, even when you don't want to. Personally, I think old stuff like deep fakes can be funny, since those have been around since 2018 maybe earlier, like sometimes I'd just throw a video game character and make it sing something funny, as long as it's not using real people or impersonation. As for AI images, I think it's wrong that it steals work from other artists, references, whatnot, and just doesn't give credit or ask permission. I wonder if you'll ever do an update video on AI Frutiger Aero next. It's probably not relevant to liminal spaces or nostalgia anymore since it's also been a milked trend, but recently I've seen TikTok shop advertisements just using AI slop for "Frutiger Aero T-shirts" or even posters and adding expensive shipping.

i like your videos but the way you try so hard to make AI look bad with pictures that looks like you would absolutely praise if didnt knew was AI.. is awkward. the constant pauses algo makes this video quite awkward aswell. this dude is using AI for fun, and nothing commercial... humans demonize AI not because of plagiarism (we could even consider fnaf fan games as this because they look and play alike and are all based on fnaf but mixed with other ideas), but simply because humans fear AI... is something not human that might become more than human, and humans really dont want to leave the top... specially cuz what if this thing acts like humans do? would be horrible if it end up like a human but with more power. tho AI can be way better morally than any human if trained well, even if they are a conscious and sentient "AI" (isnt artificial anymore at this point)
@Shookey
Ай бұрын
Your statement is contradictory, my talking points were about the authenticity of AI (how soon they might have the possibility to be indistinguishable from reality) as well as how currently AI images always produce blemishes which reveal their artificial nature. Also, I mention several times throughout the video that I'm just speaking off of points, I did not script this video. Just because Tyler is not using these for profit doesn't negate them from criticism. Furthermore, all generative AI is fundamentally plagiarism. It takes from algorithms of data (most not consented) to produce a replication, without providing credit to the original sources. I do agree we (humans) fear AI more then necessary and you make good points, but it comes off as a little misguided. As far as your last statement goes, it is a little harder to talk about since it deals more with relativity and the human experience. We can train a AI to be moral but morality is subjective to society. Me personally, however, I would trust an empathetic person over a machine with no emotions. I hope this clears up some of my points for you, thanks for commenting.

the only problem i have with AI is that you usually can't tell it is AI. Most people who care even a little bit about AI don't like to be deceived by AI and would rather look and buy real art. But then again there are things that can't and would probably never have been made without AI and are still really interesting to experience, my favorite being Dark Souls as dark fantasy and other media like that being translated into another aesthetic, as many commenters on those videos and images say it is like looking into a parallel universe because it seems so real and yet no human from this universe made it. This stuff isn't taking jobs, it's just something interesting people are curious about, I doubt without AI anyone would ever commission an artist to create 30 realistic paintings of Dark Souls as dark fantasy just to see what it would look like. AI grifters on instagram and stuff seem to be disappearing, I see less and less of them and when i do most of the comments are hating cause it looks like AI and is not tagged as such.

I think when you were talking about AI possibly being racist, Im guessing what you may have meant was Artificial Bias. It is likely taking the biases of the images fed to it that would tend to have more of a particular race or body type due to where it was sourced. Like if someone was to train AI on anime images the likeliness of seeing a darker skinned person would be very low or like how you could tell AI to create a human and it would likely create an American and you have to specifically tell it to create a person from a particular country if you wanted it to generate maybe a Indian or Jamaican.

Years ago, I used to frequent deviant art. There were people on that site who would call it plagiarism if you even looked at their picture of a tree, and then drew your own without crediting them. Unfortunately, I think the future of AI and whether or not it steals is going to have to be decided by the courts. I think people are doing some very creative things with AI and very interested to see where it’s going both from the standpoint of will it be legally allowed to continue, and what will it eventually turn into?

My name entails that I love AI. However im okay with AI generated material as long as you make it known you are using ai generated content. I wouldn't call plagiarism. A lot of time it use the content to make something that is close to the original artwork. It's inspired by that person not completely copying it. But at least if someone marked it as AI generated.
