I hate when people hire nannies or housekeepers and literally treat them like slaves and sometimes nannies even raise the kids cause the parents are so busy with work or like in this case don't love their own kids cause of some silly reason. As horrible as Hilly is, even Abileen acknowledged that she loved her children. Elizabeth wasn't as fleshed out in the book, but I thought she was depressed in her role as a housewife/mother.

Her mother may be a real witch with a capital B, but it shows a lot on Aibileen's part that she doesn't let it influence how she treats an innocent child. Whether her mother is an enemy or not, that child shouldn't pay for her ignorance, especially since she's old enough to realize her real mother can't be bothered with her.

The "Yes ma'am and "mama" REALLY stands out. Mae doesn't think of her biological mother as a caretaker: in this case a mom. She will listen to her biological mother order her around but no love is there. Mae Mobley loves Aibileen, the woman she sees as a mom, hence the word "mama."

I’m no racist or anything, so I don’t mean for it come off that way, but in that whole “home health sanitation initiative” did they ever think of installing some sort of sink or place where they can wash their hands? Again, I’m not being mean or anything I just think that part is pretty vital in the whole using the bathroom process.

I was so sad for Mae once Aibee left 😭❤ She really loved her and she was there for her more than her own mother was. She would have had a nice life and happy childhood if Aibileen stayed to care for her!

The ending broke my heart as well, I hope they make a sequel where Mae Mobley is following Skeeter’s foot steps and reuniting with Aibee. A sequel would help me get closure after the heart breaking scene 😢 i feel like Mrs. Leefolt would get another maid and she would also take care of Mae Mobley just like Aibee did.

That reminds me of what my ex-friend son said to me but he used to say mommy Rachel. My niece called me the same thing and it brought me to tears. Still to this day if I see cj or my niece. My niece has told me that when she gets older she wants to live with me. Kids know who love them and who doesn't.

Abbie deserves Mae Mobley. She’s the REAL mom. Not the other woman. The other woman, she’s just a birth mom. Jus because you get pregnant and pop a baby out that doesn’t automatically make you a mom. It’s really the things that you do for your children that makes you a TRUE mom.

This scene gives me such mixed emotions it makes me happy sad and mad all in one happy cause someone loves her for who she is so what if she's "chubby" she's a child and she still has some baby fat it's totally normal and it makes me sad and mad because her birth mother rejects her I would never reject my child because of their weight especially when they're this little.

Sometimes I wish that the author who wrote this story should make a sequel to see what happens to the characters in the book after skeeter got the book published like how happened to the little girl if she ever got to see Alibeen again & read the book skeeter wrote plus the other characters
