"I don't know. I've been told I'm a pretty good writer, already sold a lot of books." This line stood out to me during the whole film because of the way it was delivered. Abilene seemed pretty shy and just always did was she was told; wasn't sassy like Minnie. Here though, so much confidence spilled out of her it seemed like she surprised herself. She was telling Hilly basically like "I got you, you cannot destroy me now because I got you." Hilly was at Ablieen and Minnie's mercy now. They (and the other maids) spilled the tea all over the nation about Mississippi, their employers, and basically the plight of at least southern North America. Hilly KNEW IT too and couldn't do a damn thing about it. Not a damn thing. Ugh, just well done.

In the book Aibileen reveals she writes two hours or more a night which surprises Skeeter because that's more than she herself writes. She's also an avid reader and Skeeter gets Aibileen books from the library until they allow black people to go in. Aibileen also writes her own stories and gives them to Skeeter to type up. The book really gives Aibileen confidence to come out of her shell and she realises all these lines between white and black people don't exist it's only real for the racist mofos. As soon as Hilly tells her she's going to jail Aibileen finally snaps. She basically thinks "there's no way I'm going to jail" that's what makes her stand up to Hilly and threaten to write the truth about her. Hilly then backs down and says it isn't worth her time to press charges. And Aibileen also takes over Skeeter's Miss Myrna column at the paper on the same pay as Skeeter. The church also tells her that they will financially support her if there's any comeback over the book. I'd really recommend reading the book it's absolutely brilliant

I agree and I think in reality that there is so much conflict between millennials and boomers like other generations than before. It took two generations to try and end generational trauma and now the boomer generation is mad at millennials because the millennial generation is not giving the defference and respect the boomers were expecting to get. So now I think that's also why there is such a divide among the generations especially in the United States. People like to think millennials are divided but no it's actually the boomers who are more divided because you have some boomers who have the mentality that if they suffered then others should suffer and then the others who don't want others to suffer. I fear though that i will be long gone before i see this change happen.
