I’ve used the Garmin and the Apex Pro. The Garmin is very easy to use once you get it set up. I like that it gives you video and some data review. It is a little bit on the simple side which is good because I hardly know what I’m doing. The Apex Pro is very accurate at lap times, and you can get very deep into the squiggly lines. I never got very good at interpreting the data. That being said there is tons of on line support for this device. If I ever get a grip on my ADD and grow an attention span this device has the potential to be really great. My two cents.

It is definitely the best entry level type product as far as driver coaching. The apex pro does require more diving into data. Bring some by sometime and I'll be happy to review some with ya!

So after using the Garmin for 4 events, I stand by that it is a beginner tool at best. Its OPTIMUM lap time is basically just gluing together the best sectors it has seen HAPPEN. So all its "opportunities" are doing is helping you achieve the lap you basically already have. It does nothing to help you go FASTER than your so called "optimum lap". I am very disappointed in that whole feature. The Video overlap and review stuff though is quite good and easy to use. Its just not very useful for anyone who has a few DE's under their belt except for video review quickly.

Thanks for the video. As a big Apex PRO User I would like to add that the biggest advantage vs the aimsolo is the easy way to review the data. I have it connected to an ipad that i also use as laptimer in the central car console(but it works with iphone and NOW also with ANDROID) and reviewing or comparing laps data has never been easier. While aimsolo lacks big time in the software (win 3.1 style) and also connectivity (u need to connect it to a laptop. The garmin concept is great but the lack of OBD connection is a big miss.

Agreed. I don't find the Garmin at all useful as a coach unless consistency is an issue, not raw lap speed

XT Racing Ultra Lap Timer Transmitter or none! Jkjk, the Solo 2 looks good, but that Garmin is a beast! Apex Pro needs to get the Android version done!

One thing I like that they did is they announced a lack of development for the android platform instead of half ass supporting it. The racebox mini has android support and it was unusable on a Motorola edge 5uw.

@@blackcanyongarage totally. Knowing the product is made by 4 dudes in a small building like mine I totally get it though. Focus on making one great incredibly powerful experience vs one great and one half assed one. Btw my solution was I bought a 50 dollar ipad lol. Problem solved

@@blackcanyongarage it's a hard decision to turn down an entire market. But in efforts to offer the best product possible with the given resources I feel it was the correct move.
