Guys, fr, like just stop arguing there's no feeling. She's so young and its impressive she can play the etude technically well. When she reaches a certain age and will be able to play with feeling it will be more phenomenal, but for now just appreciate the technique
@heoltelwen3605
5 жыл бұрын
Looks like she's playing it with more than enough feeling. How much more feeling is she supposed to express? And why is her age an impediment to expressing feeling? Children can express feelings just as well as adults - and it seems like she's doing just fine with that aspect of it. Also, why is feeling singled out as such an important criterion for music? I'm not saying it's not important, but why is it that if someone doesn't seem to be expressing "enough" feeling, their playing is judged in a much more inferior way, as compared to someone else who is purportedly expressing more emotion or the right kind of emotion in the right kind of way? What are the necessary and sufficient conditions for that? A last point (related to feeling) - what if it's not feeling, but something else that's more important: The philosopher Immanuel Kant argued, for example, that what demarcates good art from bad art is good art's ability to stimulate the free-play of the imagination. It could be argued that emotion is irrevelant in this sense because there are plenty of things that cause emotion, but we wouldn't label those things art. I don't say any of this to be combative, but instead to just bring up a philosophical discussion of aesthetics.

@@heoltelwen3605 I find that idea by Kant interesting. I myself am not a philosopher, but the philosophy I came up with is that good art is the achievement of the artists goals in art. For example, if the musician wanted the music to be beautiful, then whether or not they made it beautiful is the factor determining if their art is good or bad. It is also not determined by the viewer but by the artist, as the definition of beautiful is determined by the artist.

This is an etude. It is a study- not required to have so much feeling. This was nicknamed "The Beehive". I don't particularly like the nicknames - but this is pretty spectacular. This young girl is disciplined and has a good teacher. That's what it takes! I'm working on this etude right now. Dang- wish I would've had a better technical teacher when I was young. Learn piano young folks! I teach piano and get that technique in early!

I dunno, I personally (probably on my own here) really enjoy her renditions at that age. There's one version where it is played that fast that it sounds like ghosts singing it almost. Such a different flavour to the generic usual performance of this. I reckon, at this level, it's more about the listener taking pleasure from the individual performance rather than the performer playing it differently to suit the listener. Just the opinion of a random person on the internet :)

Johannes Ostenfeld-Rosenthal no. You do know even though Chopin's etudes are just for the practice of hands, its still considered as a recital piece? She played it technically well but where is the emotion? And nothing about the comment is envy full or comical. Kids aren't meant to play pieces with that much emotion because they simply do not know how. Unless they're considered as great prodigies, but those kids are really rare. Kids that play so perfectly yet without emotion is common these days. We don't need to know how to play to prove it. Can you cook all the food you eat? Tell me

You should have played this slightly slower, since you slowed down inappropriately at times, couldn't articulate enough, (issues with dynamics, more so with tempo), and there were several instances with a lack of clarity, this is extraordinary for your age.
