My wife and I are from Ottawa and flew the return leg of this flight after a 30 day Princess cruise from San Francisco across the Pacific to Sydney. What a unbelievable cruise and flight home. I worked with Nortel for 34 years and flew pretty much all of my working life and loved Air Canada. Best flights were in the old Viscounts - huge windows to see out of. Best airline in the World all things considered.

The 200ER has an increased Max Takeoff weight over the 200 so it can go about 2500nm further... The 200LR has an increased Max Takeoff weight over the ER and it can go another 1500nm further... So in other words... for long flights you need an ER and for the longest flights you need the LR.

Fantastic view of the PFD during an autoland on the second landing. Watching all the mode changes. The 777 has one of the smoothest auto lands i've ever experienced! Always gets it right, the 737 was a bit less skilful, mainly as the autopilot didn't control the rudder. Great vid

Absolutely. This particular 777-200LR is probably certified for 180-minute ETOPS (extended operations), which means it can fly at least three hours on only one engine. If you remember, there's a point in the video where they talk about switching from the Marshall Islands to Honolulu as the closest diversion airport. At that point, Honolulu was 1,100 miles away.

I'm a huge 777-200 fan, particularly of the 200LR. I'm so proud of the fact that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) was the launch customer of the 200LR. Go PIA!!! And great promo video for the 200LR

I purchased this dvd like a year back and couldn´t watch it till yesterday but i must say that justplanes went straight through the roof with that one, amazing work esspecially the camera man was amazing capturin everything the pilots pointed out well done. As a pilot myself i must say that i have never seen more professional guys like the ones on this dvd in specific the two on route from Toronto to Vancouver. Again I am a huge fan of your work and I will definately write a review on your page.

When the computer calls out "minimum", the decision altitude, the pilots call out whether runway is in sight and whether to proceed with landing. It is standard procedure carried out in either clear daylight conditions or in restricted visibility. In restricted visibility is when these callouts actually make sense.

No, you can hear him say that the FO disengaged the autopilot just before landing. and if it was an auto landing the pilots would have had to disengaged it on touch down to apply brakes, reverse thrust and mainly so they can have overall controll of the plane.

Interesting tidbit about Air Canada's B777 in the Toronto Star newspaper (March 11, 2011)... the most senior captains make Cdn$239k per year and there are 162 such top positions, and Air Canada has over 3000 pilots.

@daimasongoodspeed yes it is fly by wire , it doesnt need to have a joystick on the side like airbus,,,,fly-by-wire (FBW) system replaces manual flight control of an aircraft with an electronic interface. The movements of flight controls are converted to electronic signals transmitted by wires (hence the fly-by-wire term)

Was it just me or was that a smooth landing! I could barely tell when the plane touched the ground (obviously the instruments tell us that).
