Great idea! Only thing to be careful of is rust. compressed air tanks are designed with condensation in mind and are built with heavier steel on the bottom of the tank to resist rusting for a long time. I don't believe well tanks have this feature, as they aren't normally exposed to water unless the bladder is damaged. This is the same reason you should never try to use disposable refrigerant cylinders as air tanks. The walls are way too thin and a fairly small amount of rust (which is guaranteed to happen) will weaken them to failure very quickly!

With a auxiliary tank does it keep the same Cfm ?

No it will go up a bit but it depends on the package as a whole meaning pump capacity

I have thought about doing this as well. but the only problem is once you get low enough for the compressor to kick in it has to run twice as long to catch up. I have a smaller compressor so I really wouldn't be gaining much. i would like to know if I could put a smaller pulley to increase performance

Mine works great but it's made for long run time. You are correct a smaller compressor might have a problem overheating if it ran for twice the time. As for the pulley I think it could work. You might want to listen to the motor to make sure it doesn't strain but, it should work.

1 suggestion, Never blow yourself off with compressed air! If you have any open sores, scratches. etc. you can give yourself a air embolism
