One day, this will be me. I knew even before I finished enlisted Basic Training, that I wanted to make it here. Now 6 years later as a Staff Sergeant, that fire is only burning hotter. I have injuries I need to overcome and about 50 more credits to earn, but those are minor obstacles I know I can overcome in time. If you're an enlisted Airman like me and you're reading this, you're not alone in your ambitions and don't let anyone, ANYONE, no matter who they are, tell you you can't do it. "You're only defeated when you admit it." --General George S. Patton, US Army. If you want it, like I do, then GO GET IT!!

+Michael Wayland Don't know if it'd be 'easier' being prior enlisted. But more will definitely be expected of you as opposed to someone fresh off the street. Expect to be placed a leadership role having prior service under your belt.

The biggest reason is also the fact that these are Officers trainees, not Enlisted trainees. The primary goal of enlisted boot camp is getting everyone to work as a team and follow orders. The purpose of Officer School is training the individual to become a leader, not a follower.

+Aaron Ed Good luck. Having just gone through the program in 16-02, the best advice I can give is to just stay motivated on why you are there. They will be hard on you for the first week or so, a lot of yelling at you for every little mistake you make, but just know that it gets better. In retrospect, a lot of the course is pretty fun. Just a shame you won't have the pleasure of meeting TSgt Yi out there.

@SuaveTito
5 жыл бұрын
When you apply for OTS, your recruiter should give you a list of the AFSCs (jobs) that the board is selecting for. You'll list your preferences. Keep in mind, that some AFSCs require a specific degree (e.g. 32E Civil Engineer requires an engineering degree).

SOP for all branches. Generally E-6 or higher. you would tie up way to many officers trying to have officers train officers, and day to day training such as this is out of the area of expertise of most officers. officers are managers not every day nitty gritty work
