Crispy homemade Healthy Plantain chips / Healthy Banana chips made out of raw bananas are awesome in taste and way better than store-bought. Cooked in coconut oil for an extra flavor and Air- fried for a healthier experience. Enjoy these crispy and crunchy banana chips as a snack. It's an inexpensive, vegan, and gluten-free snack.
In Kerala, one of the southern states in India, they are more commonly deep-fried in coconut oil. The coconut oil gives an interesting flavor to the banana chips.

Ingredients:
· Raw Plantain / Raw Banana- 3
· Coconut oil- 3 Tbsp
· Salt- 1/2 Tsp
· Turmeric powder- 1 Tsp
For Soaking the peeled Banana for 10 mins
· Salt- 1 Tsp
· Turmeric powder- 2 Tsp
· A Medium bowl full of water (to soak the peeled banana)
Instructions:
· Mix turmeric and salt to a bowl of water.
· Cut the ends of the green banana or plantain. Peel the green skin and add the peeled banana to the turmeric water and let it soak for around 5-10 minutes.
· In a bowl add coconut oil, salt, and turmeric.
· Pat the banana dry and slice it on a mandolin and coat it with a mixture of coconut oil, salt, and turmeric
· Preheat air fryer to 350°F for a couple of minutes (varies depends on the air fryer).
· Place the sliced green bananas (in batches) inside the basket or tray of the air fryer.
· Cook for about 10 minutes. If they need additional time leave on for another 5 minutes. If you see some of them are done, remove them and continue cooking the rest.
· Repeat steps until all slices are cooked.
Notes
1. You may want to adjust the time for air-frying based on the thickness of the plantain slices
2. You can use your oven to bake them as well for 400 degrees for 16-20 minutes in the middle rack. Flip them over after 8 minutes
Storage:
They are best stored in an airtight container. These can easily last for 3 weeks.
Pro Tips:
· Use a mandolin slicer to have uniform-sized chips
· Apply a thin layer of coconut oil while baking or air frying to add amazing flavors
· The thinner the slices are, the crisper they will tun out
· The thinner the slices, the lesser time required for air frying and baking!
· You can slice the plantains lengthwise to make them longer.
· You can vary the width of your banana slices depending upon your preference.
· Don’t forget the peel the plantains before you slice them.
Can I deep fry Banana Chips?
With the number of gadgets available in the market to air fry and bake, I would not recommend you deep fry the plantain chips, however, if you like to do it to compare the taste, I recommend using coconut oil/peanut oil.
