Thanks for posting, the instructions are pretty hood but always nice to see how someone else has tackled the job. I've had the air delete kit for a year now and just not got round to fitting it (too busy riding!) but had a knee op week before last so now is perfect time to sort out a few bike jobs. While the tank is of I'm going to fit the Fuel X Pro I've had for six months ; )

Did you check whats inside the new plug (instead of the solenoid), maybe by measuring it with with a multimeter? Is it just a wire (bridge) or a resistor to simulate the solenoid coil to the ecu? Thanx Andi

@@GrasshoppersRide Maybe you could do a video about all your engine mods and how effective they seemed to be. I’m pretty happy with my bike as it is; however, I have had two Harleys and they both benefited from the “Stage One” mods. They weren’t noticeably more powerful but they did definitely ran better after the mods. I realize this is not the same thing. The Harley Stage One kits have been around for a long time and they are proven. The Himalayan is a relatively new bike and there hasn’t been as much interest from aftermarket companies to create stuff for this bike except for exhaust pipes. But, it you want to make any meaningful change you need to free up the exhaust, the intake and then have the EFI remapped.

@GrasshoppersRide

Yes, a noticeable difference right away. Along with the new exhaust system and a Booster Plug the bike is running better than it ever has. It is running cooler and smoother. The throttle seems more responsive and my butt dyno has returned with promising results. 😊

Ok, I haven't heard about this one before, what is this supposed to accomplish?
@GrasshoppersRide
3 жыл бұрын
I included a little explanation in the video description. It is really the whole combination of modifications I made, new exhaust system, the delete kit and a Booster Plug. These 3 things combined make a noticeable difference in the bikes performance. The idea is mostly about running cooler and smoother. 🙂

I "removed" mine for a total of $1 , I just cut the hose between air box and solenoid, plug both cut ends with suitable sized bolts and job done. Yes the stuff is still there, but its now blocked and no need for the bypass plug. If I wanted weight reduction, I wouldn't have fitted the big steel bash plate and suspension protector. I could have just as easily removed the solenoid plug to stop it working and wired a resistor across it to fool the ECM into thinking it was sill there like the bypass plug does, but then I would have had to waterproof things or cut and solder the wires. This way I can restore it to factory if i wan to. Powertronic might be a good idea depending on the exhaust you fit as the stock ECU doesn't adjust too well to free flowing exhausts.

I like the way this guy thinks, arriving at the same outcome w/o buying a kit.. although getting rid of unecesary baggage while you're at it is always a good thing. Grasshopper is one smart cookie.
@mattyb7736
3 жыл бұрын
@@sscbkr48 for sure I could, but that means more work. and having to buy the blanking plate and plug etc. weight saving is negligible in the grand scheme of things, 3 mm steel skid plate, engine bars etc on mine, its not like a couple of ounces will save much. I have done an evap delete tho while changing the skid plate. that stuff is un necessary and improves the idle stability and hot starting.

Hello, if by performance you mean power, no, not really. Taking into account all the changes I have made, there is a different delivery of performance for sure, if that makes sense. The way it behaves in 2nd gear at low rpm is great for off road riding. I also find it has a bit faster throttle response in the mid range and starts better.
