Still some really good tips. I just got air in my van and trying to work out the bugs. Wisconsin in the house 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

What does a tank drain look like? Also water traps, can that be installed in any air system? How do you feel about safety pressure relief valves on tanks?

There are a few types of tank drains. Mine is just a tire Schroeder valve connected at the end of a short line from the bottom of the tank. I’ve not seen safety relief valves used. If you have a good air management system it should shut off at the proper pressure, but I guess it couldn’t hurt. Yes, air traps can be installed in any air system. They often don’t come with kits.

Thanks for the vid. Could you share on why it is not optimal to side mount the compressors?
@joshwalling4633

All about condensation buildup. First, the manufacturers do not recommend mounting them sideways (it’s in their instruction manuals). Second, if they are sideways, condensation can build up on the cylinder walls within the compressor and could corrode and wear out the piston seal prematurely (my best guess anyways).

If your check valves go bad, they will cause your compressor to go bad because they are fighting the back pressure coming back into the compressors. A way to check if your check valves are bad are unscrew the filters on the back of the compressors and spray some soapy water around where the filters screw in. If air is coming out of those holes then your check valves are bad.

Quick question why would you need a water trap coming from the compressor like certainly there should be a one way valve
@joshwalling4633
3 жыл бұрын
That is actually where the majority of water gets trapped (besides the tank itself). There certainly is a one-way valve, but the water traps are not to protect the compressor, they are to prevent condensation from building up within the system (and in particular, within the manifold, valves, and lines).

I can’t recall specifically, 1xsomething (maybe 1x3? Is that even a thing? Haha I just grabbed what looked right without being overkill.

I just picked up my air suspension, should I pick up a water trap for each of my compressor? Even tho I have one going straight to my manifold ?
@joshwalling4633

I would recommend it. Water traps can also sometimes act as a filter, so I especially like them before a manifold.

@@joshwalling4633 appreciate it. Last question what fitting did u use in order to connect the airline straight to the tank? I see compressor-> watertrap -> airline to ??? Im assuming you have a push connect connected to the tank?
@joshwalling4633
3 жыл бұрын
Kind of, you can use a PTC fitting for sure, and I did for a number of years. In the setup shown in the video I had the airlines connected to PTC to AN bulkhead fittings in my false floor behind my tank. Then AN hardlines from the bulkhead fitting to the tank. This is just for looks though, you can connect the soft airlines directly to the tank using PTC fittings.

It could definitely be your compressor going out on you and drawing too much current.
