Well I'm back here to give you my experience with the .22 gamo swarm magnum gen 2. Shot it last weekend for the first time. Put about 250 pellets thru it. H&n field target trophy 14.13gr I think they are. Anyway it was all over the place at 40yards. Found lead shaving on the magazine after a few rounds about thirty. Didn't think much of it at that time. But turned out the pellets were being clipped when closing the breach. Then after 250 or so the cocking mechanism locked up and was unable to pull the barrel right down to cock it. It stopped halfway while pulling the barrel down. So that was the end of that then. That was very disappointing. It cost me $1000 nz. That is a lot of $$ for a air rifle here in nz that would be in the same price range as diana or other German top rifles. Been looking forward to shoot this for a long time after every one said that it was a great rifle. Called the shop they were surprised and said they would sort it out or replace it. Don't think that I will be interested in another Gamo swarm magnum gen 2. What to do ? ☹

They added insult to injury by offering to sell me some 150$ barrel for my defunct 'new' gun. i declined their offer and now the rifle still works it just creates a POI that is off by about a foot so its unusable for any kind of reliable precision. whereas Gamo on the other hand, when i had a problem with my first Gen1 Swarm Maxxim .22 gamo was quick with the turnaround and sent me a brand new rifle that has performed perfectly ever since. Great rifle Gamo, I always liked the Gamo Swarm Magnum! But being old and out of shape LOL, the 40+ lbs cocking effort (from reviews) looked too heavy for me and others. I have consistently wanted Gamo to produce a Swarm Mach 1 with the adjustable check riser stock. From reading about the Mach 1 cocking is about 10 lbs less than Magnum while still producing FPE between the regular Gamo rifles and the Magnum. Some reviewers have commented about the Mach 1 being a more accurate and pleasurable shooting experience than the Magnum!

👀I just think that if you're reviewing an air rifle from a higher than normal elevation and it's affecting velocity to that extreme, you should make that clear when posting a video like this so that it doesn't deter others from purchasing the rifle thinking that it's underperforming or not as good as they would like it to be. Something that significant should be said at the beginning of the video as a disclaimer, and even posted in your description. You can even see the results of not doing that in some of these comments which is pretty unfair to GAMO, because I've seen well over 1,500 FPS from the 177 Magnum, while not 1650 still a lot more than what you're giving it credit for in this video. This is easily a 26 FPE plus gun, when you're only giving it credit for 21 or 22 FPE. I do respect your expertise though.

Why does this rifle have a plastic trigger ....I dislike so many plastic parts ...
@AirGunWeb
Жыл бұрын
Hye there. They use synthetic materials because it's more cost-effective. It does not mean that they are less durable. Also, the trigger blade is synthetic.. the trigger components on the inside, like the sear and hammer, are metal. So "plastic." Are you lumping all synthetic materials into the same pot? It's a synthetic trigger, as is the stock. I also have an awesome Walther 9mm, whose frame is composite, and I love it. I've never thought of it as, "Oh, this plastic gun." So there's toy "plastic," and then there are high-grade synthetic composites. The Gamo line of airguns falls in the second class of high-grade synthetic composites. Cheers AGW p.s. in all the years of shooting Gamo guns.. I've never had any of their synthetic rifle components fail on me. I can't say the same for "all metal" guns.

"You" better get better at it, because you are losing credibility, as others "stretch it out". As soon as one guy/gal starts testing for the industry who can do it,---its check. If you ignore it then, well, who would you hire if you were the manufacture? I do enjoy the rest of all your vids though. Lots of knowledge and a very good presentation IMO. Hay Rick really great video. I really love the new style format and using the Gamo pellets with the Gamo rifle. 👍👍 Totally shocked those light pellets were so accurate! A few minor suggestions. Combine the Chrony numbers testing with the accuracy testing if possible? It would been nice if you would shoot at standard yardages like 25, 50, 75, and 100 yards up to a max distance of "?" yards? If this rifle was accurate and grouped well at longer distances it would be awesome to see that target! Just say, "this is the best out of 3 group I shot at 75 yards" or what ever it was and show just the target. Once again great job and thanks for all your hard work!

If I get enough likes and shares then I can go to my sponsors and ask them to keep the gun a little longer. I'd certainly do 50 yards with this gun.. 75 and 100 would not be practical. I could hit my steel targets easily enough, but trying to group a .177 at those ranges out of a break barrel is not really going to work. It's a LOT of work to film and edit these videos. They need to make sense time wise. Again, with enough views, subscribes, likes, and shares, then it becomes worth the time. On shooting chrony and and accuracy.. I prefer to keep them separate. I've had times where the shot missed the sensors and then you have to start all over.. again, it's rare, but it means completely reshooting (video and gun) that segment. Time management means I have to do them separately. Cheers AGW

I am not kidding you Rick man: Before you squeeze the trigger, push the butt stock away from your cheek or shoulder, (just barely touch), and bring those tight groups to 80 yards. That butt stock is a long lever, and for consistent shots and 80 yard head shots on small game, don't touch it. Of course, a nice light trigger helps a lot, since you are barely holding the gun. How do you hold a springer? Don't touch it. Let the gun do its "groove thing", and that muzzle will be in the same place when the pellet leaves it every time.

Generally I would agree. But, the RedFire pellets, for whatever reason, have always shot well in the Gamo Breakbarrel airguns. I’ve not found them to work well in other guns nearly as consistently. But for the Gamo guns, they do well. If you are trying to push 50 yards, then a domed pellet will probably do better. I have not found any of the break barrels from any maker, to be consistently 1” or better at 50. Occasionally so yes. But 9 out of 10 groups, not really. For me, Breakbarrel airguns are effective out to 35 yards, generally speaking. There’s always going to be that “special” gun that can do better, but on average, after 15+ years doing this work, it’s the great exception rather than the rule to see consistent 50 yard accuracy out of a Breakbarrel. Cheers AGW

A pellet going supper sonic will cause it be unstable is a myth but a pellet going from supper sonic to trans sonic "might." I had read into that thought but wondered why I was having good or same resaults with fast pellets ? In more truth its about gyroscopic stability and that has to do with barrel twist rates bullet densidy length velocity ect..

1300fps out of a gun that suppose to do 1600? pretty pathetic false advertising.

I certainly don’t disagree. The trend with all manufacturers is to post “up to” velocities. They are always inflated. They use very light ammo as well which will shoot much faster than standard lead ammo. One point. I’m at 4600 feet which will take some velocity off the top on a spring (gas ram) gun. The air is thinner and the compression chamber holds what it holds at whatever elevation you are. At sea level you’d get more velocity than here. Not 1600, but better than 1300. Cheers AGW P.s. false, inaccurate FPS claims are why I stated AGW some 15 years ago.

I just got one from Pyramyd air about a month ago. it was out of stock when I ordered it, but they must have gotten them the next day, because I had it in 4. Go with the .22. The .177 is very fast and zips through small game, taking the rest of the energy with it. The .22 will put more energy into the game, and not through it as much. The Hornet, if you shoot well, is a skull cracker to 80 yards. The .22 will hold it's energy better for longer shots too, but at 80, you are still down to about 12fpe with the .22, so there is my limit for reach. I can see 100 yard kill shots though. Gotta be a real good shot.

so with this gun every time you change pellets you have to readjust your scope if i wanna hit somthing right?

Isn't the independent second stage adjustment screw there to resolve exactly what you said? There are 2 screws. One to extend or shorten stage one- another to extend or shorten stage 2. Both are factory set in the center. I don't understand how shortening the "throw" of the second stage doesn't resolve the "second stage trigger creep you dislike?

yikes. I just got one of these in the mail, and I just want to say that people need to be really careful. Once the pellet is loaded, all you have to do is look at the trigger directly to make it fire! Better be really extra hyper-vigilant about where this gun is pointed once its been cocked.

Altitude above sea level, air density and air humidity and existing air temperature, as well as pellet weight and shape, will all have an effect on your gun velocity as well as shot groupings at measured set distances, also heat generated by gun air compression can also affect the next following shot, the more you shoot, the more heat you generate. Consider all elements when testing.

If it will launch 16gr and 18 gr over 800FPS I could live with it. But 1650 cut down to 870 with 8.7 gr I think he was shooting.

Hi Rick, Gamo advertises this gun for "Up to 1625fps" why are you only getting 1338 max? that is way lower than the 1625 claimed, for a much higher price that say the Crossman diamondback at 1400fps and $100.00 less

This is one of the reasons that I started doing reviews some 15 years ago. The numbers on the box don't match the performance in real life. How they get those "up to" numbers are still a mystery. Every "break barrel" or spring gun maker (just about) makes the same claims. That's why they say "up to" such and such FPS. As for the crosman.. would love to put it on the chrony and see where it lands.. Crosman along with Gamo are some of the word offenders of overselling performance. Cheers AGW

Alloy pellets suck like a hoover. They are too light for energy more than 40 yards, if they can hit the target that far. The skirt can't expand for a good seal to the barrel like lead does, so they lose speed there. FPS I care about for trajectory, but energy is how a gun should be rated. If you fall for the importance of the fastest fps with a junk pellet,---then you are missing the actual capabilities of the gun. When I see a higher fps on the packaging than my older packaging, then I know it will throw a piece of lead better than my old gun.
@EarthSurferUSA

@@AirGunWeb 15 years, big deal. That does not mean you know what you are doing. You don't shoot over 20 yards with a springer,--and they are all testing good with all the junk pellets you test with, (usually). You have no idea what alloy pellet the manufacture claims to have shot at that advertised fps, and they don't seal to the barrel worth a poop. As a guy with a couple of engineering degrees, talking to a HS graduate,---you don't test well, and you don't know how to shoot a springer if you are not reaching out past 50 yards. I will take your money all day long, shooting a springer. Pahleeeeese. 20 yard master. Sling shot range.

This is the most inaccurate gun I have ever owned. It throws pellets all over the place. I put a new air max 4x9 and that didn’t help. Everything is tight I’m using artillery hold. I love the feel of the gun but accuracy is so poor. The original scope was very poor.

Some troubleshooting tips. 1. If you have the gen 2 with open sights, shoot with those at 10 yards to see if you get the results you would expect 2. Tighten all the stock screws and mounts. 3. Shoot close, 10 yards, to see if there is a hold or technique issue you need to resolve. If you start to get too groups at 10 yards with practice, then back up. 4. If you have a chrony check your velocity and your extreme spread. If it’s way too low or all over the map, then you may have a defective gun 5. If all else fails, make use of the warranty. Gamo will sort it out for you. They’ve always done right by me. Cheers AGW
