Those Ashton VSGs are very nice smokes. I've never actually bought a whole box of cigars, but if I ever do, it will be the Ashton VSG. Thanks for the video.

You should also try the Mi Amor from La Aroma De Cuba. I find them similar.

@@bosbevok1539 Funny you mention that! I have two sitting in my humidor that came from a sampler 5 pack. Since they were mail order, I am going to let them rest for another few weeks. Thanks for the advice.

id allow a bit more room in that tuppador for airspace and drop down to 65 rh.

All Boveda packs run about 3% high in plastic tubs. Since there’s not a significant amount of water-absorbent material, there is nowhere for that extra 3% to go. It’s a saltwater solution in a breathable paper-like pouch. They are not exact and to the percentage marked on the pack. You should expect some sort of variant with actual Rh.

the issue is more of the cigars being over-humidifed (out of the box). rarely I've seen bovedas vary that much. they dont suck humidity very well though so cigars will stay overhumidified

Great video I can’t believe you said the bull was decent, but not top five lol. I also have a bull in my collection, and have yet to attempt to smoke it due to its difficulty of finding.

It’s now been discontinued so hold onto it as it’s rarer. I think I did under rate it. It is a fabulous smoke.

Hi. Did you happen to try 62 and 65 bovedas to see the effects on the cigars?

You should try the God of Fire by Fuente. What you said in the video about most Fuente cigars not doing much for you I can relate to. In general I'm not a huge Fuente fan (Opus X) etc. However the God of Fire is absolutely excellent, highly recommend.

I noticed you’re using the 69% Boveda. Don’t they run 2% to 4% higher in tupperdors? I’ve seen mostly people opt for 65% or even 62% boveda packs in tupperdors. Would love your experienced take on that. Thanks!

Hi there, it’s very much a preference. After all the years of smoking, using a tuperdor with a 69% Bovida gives me the perfect balance between wet and dry. It’s how the smoke tastes most flavourful for me. Experimenting is the way forward.

2:55 I have that same issue with my tupidor since I also use 69% boveda but my meter will read 72% but boveda swears it will never over humidity past the indicated % on the boveda. Have you ever tried using 65% bovedas? I was considering trying 65% since I was having that same issue

The hygrometers aren’t perfectly accurate. What you do is mix some salt with water inside a coke bottle cap. Put hygrometer in a small zip lock bag with the bottle cap (salt/ water mixture inside) and seal the bag. Leave it for 24 hours. This will create a perfect humidity of 72%. Check the hygrometer if it is different from 72% you now know how to read the hygrometer. So if it reads 70% you know it always reads 2% lower than actual.

@@bosbevok1539 A brine solution (NaCl+H2O) at room temperature, should have an RH of 75%, not 72% www.engineeringtoolbox.com/salt-humidity-d_1887.html . Also, your hygrometer has a calibration setting. Why not just calibrate the hygrometer, and have it read accurately, rather than write down the inaccuracy and do the math? its the cigars. sometime manufacturers will ship out in the high 70s, and being wrapped in cello they will not lose any moisture and remain that way till they reach your hands
