And maybe the last time, the person yelled they were sheriff's office just to get him to open the door. Otherwise, why didn't he announce it from the beginning. That is why the airman brought a gun to the door (possible home invasion). Besides, he is allowed to have a gun in his home. He never raised it towards the officer. There was no reason to shoot him. The officer should have told him to drop the weapon not just shoot him. It would be different if the airman had raised the weapon, but he didn't. You're using hindsight! You can't do that!! The officer did not have the benefit of hindsight!!! He was called to a domestic dispute (whether or not that was the case - that is what he was told!). These calls are the most dangerous officers face! He could hear the guy talking to someone (although in hindsight, he was on a FaceTime call). So with the info that the officer had - he thought someone was in there with him, and that they were in danger. The officer was brave - he should have waited for back-up to arrive, but he wanted to help the apparent victim. Although not wrong, you probably shouldn't open the door for police with a gun in your hand (the video shows he knew it was police)!!!! We have the benefit of taking our time, picking this video apart with a "fine tooth comb". The officer was goung to a disturbance call, saw a gun, and had to make a SPLIT-SECOND decision! In hind-sight, the wrong decision. But, I'd like to see you and all the other critics do better!!!

The cop probably did not have his pistol in his hand when the man was opening the door. FYI, since the whole video isn't shown here: the young man did *not* raise the gun and point it at the deputy. He never had the time. The deputy *immediately* drew his own gun and *immediately* fired off a barrage of bullets. The deputy gave no warning. He didn't draw his gun and demand the resident drop his gun. He just saw a gun and decided he had to shoot. No more than two seconds elapsed, literally, between the door opening and this young man being shot in the chest. Just because he answered the door ready to defend himself in case whoever was outside wasn't in fact a cop. The whole thing is insane. The family is right to be infuriated. Why would you answer the door with the gun in your hand with police at the door ..that’s just not smart

I don't just open my front door when I hear knocking at my door. I ask, "Who is it???". If no response, I don't open my front door.

Nope that is murder. As a home owner you are allowed to have a firearm ready.

I see this comment all throughout these comments and I just find it funny that when white people defend their homes or themselves, and delete a melanin person, it’s because they’re racist not because they’re defending their home. 😂 So basically black people can defend their homes but white people cannot.

You are allowed to have a firearm. That is without a doubt but, you do not have a right to display that gun at a law enforcement officer and not have that officer react with deadly force!
@@cloudymaro The 2A has nothing to do with this case. He presented with a gun and police reacted to the threat!

@@vallejoborncalihasbecomeal9022 You're wrong. He did not point the gun. And every home invader can just say "police", "Sheriff's deputy", "open the door".

Use of deadly force has to be reasonable and in proportion to the perceived threat. The guy may have had a gun, but it was lowered and the victim made no verbal or physical threats to the officer. He was carrying the gun legally in his own home and was not given any command or instruction to drop the weapon before shots were fired. To me, it seems pretty clear the shooting was completely unjustified.

The deputy was responding to a reported domestic violence incident and had announced and identified himself twice. Yes, a person with a gun presenting at arms length is a deadly threat. It doesn't matter where the gun is pointed.
