@C4MELwait if anything the transparency mode is what the AirPods max are absolutely best at over any other headphone out there.... I have the xm4's and it's hilarious how much better transparency mode is with the AirPods max (and I don't own them just have used them). I'm not disagreeing that the price for the AirPods max is pretty steep which is why I haven't bought them, but they aren't slouching in pretty much any category and would say they are better in quality, sound quality and transparency than most wireless headphones in that range.

I agree, I've had the AirPods Max for 1.5 years and they're one of my favorite things! It's a pleasure to use them for music, movies, podcasts, and meditation. I appreciate the design effort put into the strong metal frame, smoothly telescoping arms, soft headband, comfy and breathable magnetic cups, and controls. Many other headphones have confusingly laid out buttons that transmit obnoxiously loud clicks into your ears. The digital crown and noise cancellation button are simple, discreet, and satisfying to use. It's a small thing but the UI's sound effects (min/max volume reached, digital crown clicking, etc.) are distinct and subtle; my GF's Boses yell "60 PERCENT BATTERY!" every time you put them on. (What designer thought that was OK?!) The Max's noise cancellation is super effective, and the transparency mode is so good I sometimes forget I'm wearing headphones. And of course the AirPods DNA make them super easy to setup and switch devices, with super long range. People balk at the price tag, but it's much better than buying $200 Boses and not quite being happy, buying another set of $300 Boses and not being happy, etc. I really enjoy using the AirPods Max nearly every day, and I can see myself using them regularly for several more years. I understand $549 isn't for everyone but when a product checks 99% of the boxes like this I'm not fretting over $100 or however much less people think it should cost.

Well I only agree on the noise cancelling and transparency mode, they're superb. But the "case" is still not practical, the battery life is weak because of the lack of a power button since other headphones can last as long as you turn them off after use which in the case of Sony's is automatic. Airpods Max miss many features like wind noise reduction, ability to map the buttons, in the case of Sony LDAC and Dolby Atmos support on any app (not restricted to Apple Music) and DSEE Extreme which is really cool for local files. In terms of sound quality, Airpods Max are really bright which is great for indie and pop music but sounds horrible with other genres, Sony's are more balanced and finally mic quality is equal compared to others. If you're an Apple user like you, of course they're the best option because of the ecosystem, that's all. They're not the best on everything.

Exactly! The case is stupid. A case is meant to protect considering they're well over $500. They should be waterproof or at least water resistant, but they're not even that and the case isn't even really a case to protect against water damage. I don't know why this guy's making a fuss about other reviewers. Only reason I could come up with is that Apple said" Hey, Why don't you tell everyone that the case was great?"

Your point on the smart case is completely flawed. With normal headphone, there is no need to put it back to the case every time you use it. The only time you would put it on the case is when you travel. So the whole thing about readjusting the headphone is mute. Sure you don't have to put the APM to the case every time either but this will cause your battery to drain faster and if you travel, you gonna need to buy a real case or have a special compartment in your bag for the APM.

I love my Airpods Max so much that I end up using them even over my wired options (DAC + Amp included). Though they don’t get as loud, the sound quality is pretty spot on. Like you said, I absolutely love the case idea since it makes it easier to move around with as it doesn’t take up so much space in a backpack and similar bags (The bulky cases of my older wireless headphones actually discouraged me from using them as it actually becomes a hassle travelling with them because not only they eat so much space, fiddling with the zippers and the like just makes it annoying over time if you only have a few minutes to commit in listening to music etc.). Spatial Audio, Spatialize Stereo, Dolby Atmos and the S-Tier Transparency mode are just icing on the cake for a well rounded package not only for music but also for video consumption and productivity. Lastly, the seamless integration with iOS and Mac devices just sealed the deal for me. The only issue for me is battery life. If they fix that in the next version, it’s gonna be another sure fire purchase for me.

I just bought my AirPods Max three days ago. It was a huge toss up between them and the Sony XM5s, mainly due to price point. But I bit the bullet and pulled the trigger on the Max’s. Being that these are my first pair of over-ear headphones that I’ve owned since the Beats Solo 2, I can say that I am absolutely blown away by these. I don’t find the weight to be an issue at all, I love how sleek they are compared to most other over-ear headphones and the ANC/transparency modes are incredible. I think think the Smart Case is a great concept, but I do plan to purchase an aftermarket hard case for traveling. The battery life isn’t much of an issue for me since I don’t find myself wearing them all day everyday. I fully charged them the night I got them and as I’m writing this comment, I still have about a third of my battery life left. These AirPods Max get a 10 out of 10 in my book! 👌🏼

Been wanting to set up a home theater in our basement centered around our LG CX. Brilliant picture, especially in a room that's pitch black. But for audio, our room is a bit tricky, as there's very limited space for a good position for speakers. Enter this idea: getting 2 pairs of these Airpods Max. I'm held back only by a single factor, and it isn't price, since the audio system I was going to get was going to cost about $1K before installation anyways. What I'm held back on.. is that Spatial audio doesn't work when you are sending sound to two airpods max at once. I have traveled plenty and literally never have an issue shoving them into my backpack - they feel protected by the case and have never been damaged. Also, these are honestly extremely low-profile. It blows my mind. How did them make them so thin? Most of the size is the ear pads. I have no problem using them for meetings, but they do pick up the voices of the people around me a little easier than I wish they did. But all around, I love these headphones.

It took me a long while to figure this out. • temperature when you put them on is important. if the headphones are at room temperature of 73º, and you put them on your head, the temperature difference when placing them on your head is what can create unwanted condensation • use a small area heater to "warm" the metal of the cup up to 88° or so, before placing them on your head will greatly reduce the condensation buildup the most recent firmware has been astounding and near silent.

As an IT specialist (not a coder), I'm using headphones up to 12 hours a day. And AirPods max looks like good option for me... But for unthinkable marketing reasons they didn't. My PC for work and entertainment is either Windows (11, Server 2022) or Linux (Debian, Ubuntu, Steam OS) - depending on task and location. You can't manage mixed (MS, VMware, KVM) hypervisors from MacOS. You can't play games without Steam. You can't select multiple sound outputs for different tasks (so to not miss a call or event alert when afk) on MacOS. Also, you can't use 4+ monitors to monitoring, code editing, ongoing call/webinar, browser documentation page and remote session. Yeah, you can switch tasks on 2 monitors. But by doing this, you'll lose all context, time and eventually made a mistake. Also, tasks will take 20%+ longer time. My daily phone is Android for more than 10 years. Because I don't really need a phone, I need a handheld PC in my pocket. But this "pc" is still my main way to read books on-the-go, watch youtube, listen to music, receive calls. I love apple products, my wife, kid and friends use iPhones, iPads, iPods and MacBooks, that I either bought or recommended them. Because their they are excellent for their niches. Not for my work or entertainment, though. And all cool AirPods functionality totally lost on Android, Windows and Linux. Without any chance that I'll switch on Mac/Pad/i(OS) ecosystem in observable feature. So, it's out of my understanding, why Apple keep product, that can sell to me (and many thousands of PC+Android users), locked in their ecosystem? Just because they scared, that someone reverse-engineer their driver and find out, what their "lossless"-like magic really is?

I would like to agree, but I can't. I don't like to wear them a lot because on my bold head they are NOT comfortable. After 10 minutes they start to press to hard against my head, leaving marks on the skin. After 30 minutes they start to give me pain. Maybe they are just not right for my head - the Bose Quiet Comfort were perfect for me, I could wear them hours. But only Apple has the great spatial audio feature for movies, which I like a lot. So mostly I have to use the Beats Fit Pro for movies, though the Max sound a lot better.

I find I love the AirPods Max being heavy, for the price tag it better be premium, and after a few years I'm glad they have buttons since my Sony's touch stopped working and the ear cup broke, one drop from my desk and $400 headphones became useless. I learnt from this that you gotta pay to have something that lasts at least 5-6 years. Of course headphones are subjective, so try them all and pick your favourite. But this wins for me, I can see why we don't have a new version almost 3 years later.

Hey, I know you’re disappointed with the AirPod Max not supporting high-bandwidth audio via Bluetooth. But, there is a way to listen to Lossless by using an Apple Lightning to headphone adapter and Apple’s 2-way audio to Lightning cable.

I appreciate the review they will be showing up on Sunday I just hope they are what everyone hyped them up to be which is overall quality. I don’t believe it’s full lossless because of the conversion that happens over a wired connection but it’s very close. There’s been a lot of debate on that in the forums, but it should sound better than using them over a wireless connection regardless. - Josh

@MayTheSchwartzBeWithYou

@@ConnorHammond That's because they were comparing these to audiophile-grade headphones. Or just consumer-grade wired headphones. Compared to any other Bluetooth headphone, this is pretty much best-in-class. That's why I said it's a great *overall package.* That means not just sound quality, but also the Bluetooth, ANC, transparency mode, etc. No, it doesn't sound good as my HiFiMan Ananda and Arya that I returned, nor my Sennheiser HD 800 S. But I prefer these because I don't have to deal with a cable, let alone DACs or amps, and I can listen in privacy while blocking out A/C and fan noise. Plus, this is way cheaper. If my only concern were sound quality, there are obviously better options, but when you buy a Bluetooth headphone with ANC and transparency mode, those features are part of the cost of the product.
@ConnorHammond

@@MayTheSchwartzBeWithYou No, they know how to compare similar products. I think a few of them pointed towards the Drop x Pandas as a better sounding alt. But the Max's are now $900Aud and every hifi brand I can see sell their BT sets at half that price so they're literally in a class of their own. Might be perfect for Apple users with spare change and no major concern for audio quality, but everyone else should steer clear.
@MayTheSchwartzBeWithYou
2 жыл бұрын
@@ConnorHammond $900 AUD is 55% more than I paid for mine. The Drop Panda has no noise cancellation or transparency mode, and you have to pay an extra $30-50 USD ($44-73 AUD) in order to get non-pleather earpads. Moreover, there is hardly any universal consensus that the Drop Panda sounds better than the AirPods Max. At the end of the day, the only way to know is to try a product for yourself. Whether you want to find positive reviews or negative reviews, you're basically gong to be able to find both for any popular product. I purchased the AirPods Max half-expecting to return them, but it didn't take long before I decided to keep them.

There is more data sent to the device with Lossless. As to it being audible or not that is entirely subjective. Placebo or not, there are certainly those that feel it is better to get Lossless to the device. I was told exactly that by somebody inside Apple who is pretty high up in charge of the AirPods Max.

I don’t own any so Ig I don’t really have the experience to talk but still, my problem is that for practically $500 these headphones are just not enough in my opinion to justify the price, like yeah sure you could by a travel case after getting these, but again, Ur already spending $500 you really shouldn’t have to spend extra especially on stuff that’s included with headphones that cost way less, there are some cool features that u wish other headphones had like the magnetic cups, those are cool and I will give em that, but in my opinion for $500 it’s not that their bad, it’s just I feel that their not enough, if they were actually price competitive with like other Sony or Bose headphones I’d be more lenient on stuff like case
