Can't watch the shows live ..timezones and such ... but watching that back this evening is the most enjoyable 2 hours of KZitem I think Ive ever experienced. Many of your previous guests have been incredible but for K1 to go from Airwolf ( my fave show in my early teens) to the 2 gems at the end - his encounters with the Mustang and spitfire pilots. What a show.

I watched Airwolf religiously when I was in 4th grade, and it was the show that made me want to become an engineer (so I could build one for real, one day). As it turned out, my mother had some ancillary involvement with the canceled Comanche stealth scout helicopter, but that was as close as I got. Now I just keep a small Airwolf shrine, make Airwolf models out of LEGO, re-watch the shows, and chat in the Airwolf FB groups. But this interview with Kevin meant the WORLD to me, and is one of the best Mover/Gonky shows I've ever watched. Thank you so much for doing this, and feel free to keep the (semi-obscure) Airwolf content coming!

Really enjoyed the interview. I go back to the old Jetcopters days and it was a wonderful time. Kevin is a great guy, he and I did some flying together back in the day. I even worked one movie with him, had a great time and learned a ton from him.

I was exactly like Mover. Absolutely loved Airwolf and still do today and dreamed of buying one and flying it. Was a kid like Mover when it was on air, was my #1 show. Thanks so much for organizing this show and the amazing Kevin interview

Couple of Corrections to what Kevin said… there has only ever been ONE Airwolf Replica, made from the moulds of the original parts… Steven W. Stull’s Replica that originally hung in Tennessee Museum (which closed quickly), then sold to the billionaire real estate guy in California; it then got souped up by Customs shop, and now exists in a forlorn state and owned by Robin over at CelebHeli in Compton, California. HX1 sequence was actually father and son… Peter McKernan Snr in HX1 and Pete Jnr in Airwolf. David Jones was Co-Ordinator only on that episode. Having met Kevin Snr, he’s a total gentleman and a joy to be around. A very talented pilot who mainly got to fly Airwolf during its 3rd Season.

This was such a good show, I had to watch it again. Like Mover I loved Airwolf. Even to this day I gaze misty eyed at the most beautiful helicopter ever. There are so many great stories. Flying Airwolf at air shows must have been just awesome. Mover, if you do make your Airwolf and fly it, you need a PA system so you can blast out the Airwolf theme as you fly 😂

Rewatching Airwolf i was surprised by how natural Jean Bruce Scott looks when seating and setting the controls of the 500 in her first episodes .. like if she had done it thousands of times to boredom (you know like a seasoned pilot wich she was suposed to be) and in her series of Q&As she credtis this guys (including Kevin) for helping her.. they really were amazing conveying and teaching those little things to actors that then only pilots and us nerds notice...

If I heard Kevin right, “Magnum, p.i.” didn’t end before “Airwolf”. Bellisario just wanted Jones for it. Since they were shooting in CA, AZ and it was heavy work, David moved back there and Steve Kux replaced him. He took over in Hawaii and was the one who suffered the crash (in the 500). His arm was nearly severed; a camera crew filmed it. The footage is on here and one of his team lifted the fuselage. For 2 others to pull him out. The aircraft landed in a ditch and Kux was underwater. BTW Mover, do us a favour, please, and stop groaning about Season 4. It’s been 37 years and it was nowhere near that bad. It turned into a cop show in Season 2 and that killed it in the ratings. It kept jumping from spy/war drama to that, till it limped to the end of 3. Universal spent $60 million dollars on it by then and for 4, they cut the budget to 400 thou per episode: The Canadians were strapped (and weren’t to blame). Nor were the cast. They did more flying than Jan. That only happened on the pilot with him. They couldn’t trust him with the pedals or stick. Ernie got to do more, but only in the Ranger. Didn’t last long. According to Steve Wright who handled the Canada aerials, Kevin does know him. You wouldn’t go wrong interviewing him. He’s been the top film/TV pilot up there and could share plenty about “Hollywood North”. Every studio that has filmed in BC, he’s always been the one flying camera or story. For John Badham (“Blue Thunder” director, but after that), Peter Hyams’ “Narrow Margin” with Gene Hackman (“Capricorn One” Hyams) and Stephen J. Cannell on all his shows after “The A-Team”. “Wiseguy”, “Stingray”, the lot.

I believe the new Airwolf should be the SB-1 Defiant. It's real, it can fly and looks futuristic. It also didn't get the military contract so it's probably just used for R&D or just sitting around. There is also the near look-a-like S-97.

FYI. Kevin mentioned he thought the original airwolf crashed in Japan. Actually, on June 2 1992 Airwolf had his last ride. After the tv series The Bell 222 was sold to Germany. There it was used to fly people between hospitals. On June 2 1992 it flew to Berlin and it crashed against the small mounatin near the city Bestwig Germany. The 3 passengers died. Sad

You guys should try some how to get Greg arnette! He helped start Oakley sun glasses if I’m not mistaken, and started up and sold Arnette glasses too! That’s how he made his money! But the guy is a helicopter guy! Has some cool helos! And some amazing stories too! Anyways, he would be a great guest! I met him at a fly in here outside of Atlanta Georgia, and he flew his personal militarized aw139 he used with police departments around here to train. And also has a little bird and more if I’m not mistaken! Great episode guys, my favorite podcast every week! I listen on the way to work and on the way home the day after y’all release it!

In the early 90s just as I got home from school. There would always be double showing of A-Team and Airwolf. I have no idea how many years those shows went on repeat on the same time slot 5 days a week for like a decade. Sometimes they'd add some Night Rider into the mix. But that wasn't my thing.

I don’t remember Redwolf being mentioned. It crashed in 1987, killing 2 on board. The S-76 portraying HX-1 was sold and is now in Brazil. Was damaged in a hangar collapse but looked like it was able to be repaired. An Airwolf and Santini Air Jeep was built in South Africa for a grocery store chain and JM Vincent went over there to market it. The helicopter is still over there but stripped of all the Airwolf stuff. If you were to remake Airwolf today the only logical candidates would a Bell 430 or a Bell 429WLG or an H160.

Mover / Gonky...you guys need go out to California and do the show from Kevin's hanger. Your ability to draw guys like K1 and K2, makes it very worthy of taking your show on the road! I love listening to these guys talk about airplanes, movies and all of their experiences. Seeing you guys interact with them in person would be awesome. Hire you a couple of guys to film it for you and it will be golden! It's the next step for this channel! Do it!!! :)
